10 Reasons Why Christmas Is My Favorite

Halloween is finally over! I am not much of a Halloween person, so this is a very exciting time of year for me. The ending of Halloween means it is finally socially acceptable for me to listen to Christmas music and get all jolly. So, tis the season for all of my favorite things.

1. The music

Christmas music is one of my favorite things year round, but this is one of the biggest factor of getting you in the true Christmas spirit. Hearing it on every station and everywhere you walk into just makes you have a constant warm, fuzzy feeling.

2. The movies

No matter if you love Christmas or it’s not one of your favorite holiday you have to have a favorite Christmas movie. There are about a billion to choose from that there really is one for everyone. They even made a horror movie about Krampus. I have about 100 favorites and watch the 25 Days of Christmas countdown religiously every year since I can remember.

3. Ugly sweaters

Does this really even need an explanation?!

4. Picking out a Christmas tree

Although I am allergic and my mom no longer allows us to get a real tree, so I have to settle for a fake one, one of my all-time favorite things about my childhood was going to the tree farm and picking out a tree. There is just something so special about finally finding that perfect tree that looks like it was grown specifically just to stand in your house.

5. Decorations

Whether it’s decorating the outside of your house, the inside, or your tree, there is just something so magical about those twinkling lights that make you feel so cozy and nostalgic.

6. Getting presents

C’mon, we don’t have to be humble right now because who doesn’t enjoy getting presents?

7. Giving presents

But, even more importantly and what I honestly enjoy more is giving presents. Giving someone that one thing that they’ve been asking all year for and seeing their face light up when they open it is really a feeling like no other.

8. All of the baking

Although I’m not much of a baker myself, I love the smell of fresh pies and cookies and definitely have no problem eating myself into a food coma especially around the holidays.

9. Family time

Christmas is the perfect time to cozy up with your family drinking hot chocolate, eating Christmas cookies and watching Christmas movies. This is also the time to break out those family traditions that you either absolutely love or absolutely dread, either way they are super special and probably have a big factor in what holds you together as a family.

10. SANTA

You’re never too old to believe in Santa. And I don't care what anyone says, there's no way your parents do all that work...

All of these things are such crucial factors into being in the true Christmas spirit. It’s never too early for Christmas, so don’t be a Grinch and get your ugly sweater in deck. After all, it is the most wonderful time of the year.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
