April 23rd is coming up and you know what that means... Anchor Slide! That's right, Delta Gamma is hosting Anchor Slide this Saturday from 1-4 p.m., and you should definitely be there. Why should you be there you ask? Well I'll tell you!
1. Stop stressing about school! Come let out your inner child and have some fun in the sun!
I don’t know about you, but playing around in some Slip ‘n Slides, obstacle courses, bungee runs, water balloon fights, and many other activities sounds a lot better than studying or doing absolutely nothing inside on a Saturday and wasting the beautiful day away.
2. This will be the first Anchor Slide on campus, so you’ll be making history and that’s pretty cool to tell your grandkids one day.
That’s right! This year, rain or shine, Anchor Slide will be up and running! This is the kick-off to what could be a wonderful tradition here at Texas A&M, and if you’re a real aggie you know just how important our traditions are to us. So be a part of the aggie family and come join us in making a new tradition!
3. It's a philan(TROPIC) event
All of the proceeds from this tropical-themed event will be going to Delta Gamma’s wonderful philanthropy, Service for Sight! Buying a ticket and/or a t-shirt will help us fund programs for the blind and visually impaired and provide them with the opportunities they may not have received without your help along with the aid from service dogs.
4. Delta Gammas will be everywhere, and who doesn’t love those sweet, philanthropic women?
Come hang out with us! We “Do Good,” we love service dogs (and all dogs in that case), we are s’fun and s’sweet, and we love making new friends! If you already know some Delta Gammas, then go hang out with your friends! If you don’t know any Delta Gammas yet, come out and get to know us! We’d love to see you there and challenge you to an obstacle course race.
5. Bahama Bucks.
Enough said.
6. If you bought a shirt, you’ll be able to pick it up at the event and rep DG!
What an efficient and convenient experience! No more having to coordinate which sorority woman is picking up your shirt for you. No more planning when they’re going to deliver it to you. You’ll be able to pick it up then and there! So slip it on and you’ll be looking good while supporting a good cause!
7. Tickets from a DG are only $5, and there’s a $5 bill so that makes life super convenient for everyone
That's right, you can count it on one hand! Only $5! It’s so frustrating when tickets are “$7” or something random like that because that requires people to either have the exact amount or to have to give back change and, let’s be honest, as college kids who really has enough cash on them for exact amounts or change? With only a single bill, you can donate to a great cause and buy yourself a ticket to a great time!
(PLEASE NOTE: tickets at the entrance are $8, so go up that DG in your class or holding the banner on campus and buy a ticket from her instead!)
8. Speaking of those girls holding the banners… Aren’t they great campaigners?
Be on the look out for those DG banner holders because you’ll see them breaking out some hip dance moves, some awesome music, some fun bubbles, some tropical hats, and other fun attractions. If you get lucky, you may just bump into some of the best campaigners you’ve ever seen on campus! So why not go to Anchor Slide and see what all the hype is about?
9. There will be a photo-op and everyone loves taking pictures.
It’s almost summer time, which means it's also almost time for finals. When you’re sitting in Evans or WCL studying for those exams (or more like procrastinating studying for those finals because you’ll be looking at old pics) you’ll see pictures from Anchor Slide! You’ll remember how happy you were in the warm sun and in the water and eating snow cones, and it’ll bring you joy and motivation to get through finals weeks so you can finally enjoy the summer!
10. IT’S GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN AND WHO DOESN’T LOVE FUN
I mean c’mon people. Water slides, unlimited Bahama Bucks, live music, a day in the sunshine with your friends, cool t-shirts… Anchor Slide is going to be a blast, so don’t miss out!
