When you’re in high school, you wonder what it is going to be like when you go to college. When you’re in college you, secretly, dream about what the “real world” has in store for you. When you’re a post-grad, you think, “Ok, can I go back to college now”? Everyone tells you that college is the best four years of your life. You probably know many post-grads who tell you to stay in college as long as you can. As a senior, I now know that, damn, those four years go by so quickly. I caught up with some recent graduates to see what things they hate to admit that they miss as a post-grad regarding the college life.
“I miss not being able to take naps. Sadly, in the real world, those are no longer acceptable.” – Meredith Gazes, Alpha Delta Pi
“I hate to admit that I miss studying… I was good at it.” – Shannon McClellan, Chi Omega
“Sitting at a desk from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. is terrible. Being a post-grad makes me miss playing in intramural sports, taking “vacation” days, having an excuse to gain weight and having a free gym membership!” – Angela Hill, Zeta Tau Alpha
“I hate not living in my sorority house, sharing 27 different wardrobes, movies on the projector, getting ready for socials with my sisters, and always having someone to hang out with.” – Ashleigh Dellinger, Phi Mu
“I miss all of my friends being five minutes away. Everybody gets jobs and moves away, and my circle of friends that I used to spend every day with has dwindled down to just a handful thanks to the post-grad life.” – Joshua Crump, Sigma Chi
“I hate to admit that I miss the food scenario I had in college. In college you may hate that you can’t control the meal schedule every week, but once you get out of college, you have no choice but to cook or buy every single meal. You’ll be wishing you were at your sorority house eating the same old chicken again!” – Meriel Crawford, Chi Omega
“I hate to admit that I miss being immature on a regular basis, sleeping in, staying up late playing video games, and drinking on the weekdays.” – Scott Petereich, Kappa Sigma
“I really despise having to secretly stalk everyone’s pictures after formals, socials and game days. It makes me so sad to know I am no longer a part of the college life!”– Chelsea Harrigan, Chi Omega
“Living in the house with 50 of my closest friends and simply being able to walk downstairs to have a prepared home-cooked meal are things that I miss being as a post-grad. Oh, and home gamedays felt like Christmas morning to me!” – Gretchen Pigott, Alpha Delta Pi
“I hate to admit that I miss all of the horribly bad for you but oh-so-good home cooked meals every day, getting away with wearing oversized t-shirts way too often, having the energy to go out other than on weekends and having your friends live down the hall from you.”– Liz Walters, Chi Omega
