Pokemon Go. The only way you haven't heard of the mobile app game taking the world by storm by now is if you've been in some kind of hibernation. For the majority of you that have heard of the phenomena, and are participating, here are 10 pro tips.
1. When you first start the game, Pokémon go starts you off with the 3 starter Pokémon, Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. If you deny these 3 Pokémon 3-4 times, the game will give you a Pikachu as your starter Pokémon, so if you’re planning on downloading the game right now, and you really want a Pikachu, without the struggle of trying to catch a wild one, this is how!
2. Water type Pokemon can be found near bodies of water, meaning lakes, oceans, rivers, etc.
3. Even if your bag is full, you can still gain experience by spinning your Pokéstop
4. I know it’s hard (trust me), especially when you might is that silhouette of that Pokémon you’ve been wanting. but try not to use all of your Lure Modules and Incenses at once. Mooch off of someone else.
5. If you want your eggs to hatch quickly, do the following 3 things: Walk everywhere, drive everywhere (including public transportation), or pay someone to walk around for you (just kidding, unless you have that kind of money, go ahead).
6. If the server crashes when your egg is about to hatch, you will not get the Pokémon inside of that egg. I suggest checking how many kilometers you walk every once in a while. If it’s close to hatching, close the app and start it over again. It’s annoying but you don’t want to have had walked 10 kilometers just to not get a potential Mewtwo
7. Even if you already caught the same Pokémon such as a Doduo, or a Rattata, catch every one you see, and save up stardust, so you can power up the Pokémon you want to make the most strong.
8. On that same topic as the previous tip, if you’re tired of seeing the same kind of Pokémon in your bag, transfer it to the professor. In exchange you’ll receive a candy for that specific Pokémon, which can be used to power up and evolve your Pokémon.
9. In the game, turn on your battery saver. This will not only save your body, but it’ll save you from having to hold your phone everywhere, and potentially dropping it. You can just put your phone in your pocket, and it’ll still alert you if there are any Pokémon around, and still counts the amount of distance you walk for your eggs
10. Join team Valor when you reach level 5 #BestTeam. Seriously though, if they’re available, hunt for Pokémon with a friend, make sure you have a bottle of water with you (especially since it’s summer), and something to eat. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!! “Gotta Catch’em All” after all!
