10 Perfect Date Night Movies

Eventually you and your significant other are going to find yourselves spending a night in: whether you're being anti-social or you're just plain broke, the two of you will end up spending 15 minutes bickering over which movie to pick on a planned night in. Let me make that list of potential movies shorter for you. This list is sure to leave you and your partner in crime both happy (I know this because I made my boyfriend help me come up with this list.)

1. The Goonies

If you guys are looking for some old school fun, and something to bring back the inner-child inside you both, this is the movie to do it. There is nothing more fun than watching a group of kids search after hidden treasure (you all wanted to do it when you were younger, it's okay to admit.)

2. Adventures of Tintin

Let me start off by saying I never would have watched this movie if my boyfriend hadn't insisted we watch it one date night. I spent the entire movie questioning where the heck this kid's parents were, and my boyfriend kept making up stories about it. I will say this, though, I was initially very hesitant with this movie but ended up loving it. It is definitely cute enough for girls looking for something fun to watch (and Tintin's dog definitely brings the cuteness factor) and adventurous enough to shut your boyfriend up about it being animated.

3. The Princess Bride

Ah, what a classic. While searching for movies that weren't action/adventure my boyfriend reminded me this was an adventure. But a very good friend reminded me how great a "date night movie" this was. It is hilarious for one thing, and it is a classic love story that you can get gushy over, and there's sword fights. It's perfect.

4. A Knight's Tale

Heath Ledger, that is all. This movie is hilarious, and you and your significant other are sure to get a crack out of the insane hats they put on one of the main characters. Seriously, look out for them.

5. Labor Day

This movie is about finding love again after getting your heart broken. It's a beautiful love story, it's also a coming of age tale, and it definitely made me tear up a bit. But it reminds you that love can last, and beat the odds. It's also just suspenseful enough to get your boyfriend to sit through.

6. Almost Famous

Before your significant other can get all "there's no way I'm gonna like this," make them watch this movie. They will like it, do you know why? Because it's about music; it is about love and music, and figuring out who you are. The soundtrack to this movie alone is amazing, and if that doesn't hook you/your significant other, I can't help you.

7. Hitch

Looking for a hilarious rom/com that doesn't reek of "The Notebook"? Hitch will do it. Honestly, the real reason I put this movie on my list is because I'll never stop laughing when I see Will Smith roundhouse Eva Mendes off a jet ski.

8. Big Fish

This movie is an adventure a lifetime long. It's also very cute. The stories within the stories will keep both parties interested. The movie is also not lovey-dovey enough to be called a romantic movie so you could totally get away with making a stubborn guy watch this with you.

9. Indiana Jones

Upon consulting the experts, aka my boyfriend, I was told not to include Temple of Doom. So besides Temple of Doom, these are clearly movies that a guy is going to like because it's all adventure. You're going to like it because Harrison Ford is gorgeous.

10. Sixteen Candles

This is hands down my favorite movie. I love this movie. I cannot say it enough, I am still wishing for Jake Ryan to kiss me over my birthday cake you guys. This movie is another classic, and it pulls off being funny and cute at the same time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
