Long-distance relationships are never easy. They are hard, but with effort, they are worth all the waiting that is done in the end. This article is for the people who know the struggle of waiting for months, sometimes even years to meet their partner. This is to show the difficulties we face every day in these relationships. If you are struggling with any of these things, just know you are not alone and people everywhere know your exact feelings. Keep the faith and know that all will be worth it.

1. It is NOT a small world after all.

You might be able to hold a globe in your hands, but as soon as you go out into the world you realize how far several hundred miles really is.

2. Time-zones are the worst.

There's nothing worse than getting that ”I'm going to bed” message right after eating dinner or anxiously waiting for your partner to wake in the morning.

3. Loneliness is your worst enemy.

Fighting the war with loneliness is a long and dreary one. You can never win because the universe already has. Placing your partner several hundred or thousand miles away.

4. Friends/Family can be very discouraging.

Nothing hurts more than your best friend telling you that your relationship isn't real because you cannot physically hold your partner. Long-distance relationships are still real as long as love and trust are there. Do not get discouraged by someone else's relationship “advice”

5. Communication is everything.

Communicating with your partner is an extremely valuable asset to your relationship. Not talking can lead to some very bad fights. Be open with your partner about everything. They are there to help with whatever you need.

6. Trust is key.

Trusting in someone you've never met can be difficult, but sometimes you just have to jump into the deep end and learn to trust someone if they have proven themselves. In Long-distance relationships trust means everything, you have to trust that they love you and only you, or it can lead to problems.

7. Not texting back happens sometimes.

Unfortunately, your partner gets busy sometimes. Yes, sometimes it can be disheartening but you just have to trust that things come up and sometimes life has to come first.

8. Anticipation for meeting is nerve wracking.

Meeting your partner is exciting! But the anticipation can get kinda scary. This happens to everyone who has met a partner in real life. the feeling of butterflies mixed with the slight feeling of nervousness, but in the end, it's worth meeting the person you love.

9. You can never call enough.

Calling is super important in these types of relationships and is one of the best bonding memories for either one of you. Time will completely fly by as you chat on the phone with each other for hours on end.

10. There is no better feeling than finally being in their arms.

Finally meeting your partner is an extremely exciting moment. Seeing them face to face with no screen in the middle is almost exhilarating, bringing all sorts of emotions bouncing around your head, anxiousness, love, happiness. It is truly an amazing experience.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
