Okay. So I don't know about your summer, but mine basically consisted of work and Netflix. I thought I would tell you about some of the shows and movies I watched and my recommendations (in no particular order).
1. Scandal
"In Washington, DC., she's the one you call if you need a problem to go away. But who will make her's disappear?" – Netflix
I started watching Scandal last year at school and recently finished the newest season. It's filled with so many twists and endless amount of drama. Olivia Pope will hook you from the first episode.
2. Limitless
"He was a failure until he took the illegal drug NZT. Now he's a genius FBI analyst, hiding a very dangerous secret." –Netflix
I started watching this show because I originally watched the movie with Bradly Cooper that the show is based off of a couple years back. I love the movie and the show takes on a familiar and seemingly funnier take on another persons life on NZT. The show is chronologically based after the movie but it is not necessary to watch the movie before the show.
3. Hotel Transylvania 2
"Congrats! It's a Boy! But is he a Vampire? What will Dracula do if his new grandson ends up more human then bloodsucker?" – Netflix
I have never seen the first Hotel Transylvania but let me tell you, this is one of my favorite newer kids movies. It's actually pretty funny and super adorable. "Blah Blah Blah!"
4. Grace and Frankie
"Grace and Frankie think their lives in retirement are all set. Then their husbands declare their love for each other." – Netflix
My mom and I started watching this together when the first season came out on Netflix. It is a great show that includes how some very different people react to a very... interesting predicament. Very witty and clever humor.
5. The Fundamentals of Caring
"A writer stuck in the past. A teen with an uncertain future. On a road trip full of firsts, they get a new lease on life." – Netflix
A very heartfelt and funny movie. I'm not sure how much I can tell you without giving it away so I just recommend you watch it and see.
6. Peaky Blinders
"A murderous English street gang. A veteran Irish lawmen called in to bring them down. Blood will be shed." – Netflix
This drama is filled with drugs, violence, and family. The Shelby's sure do know how to run Birmingham.
7. Dance Academy
"Fifteen year old Tara Webster's dream of dancing comes true when she gets into a top dance academy. She soon realizes dancing is only half the battle." – Netflix
I laughed. I cried. I wished I was a dancer.
This Australian TV show has been compared to Degrassi, I personally have never seen Degrassi but I know Dance Academy is a 10/10.
8. Drop Dead Diva
"A vain, shallow model dies and is reincarnated as a smart, plus-sized lawyer. Inner beauty meets life lessons." – Netflix
This isn't normally the kind of shows I watch, so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this show. It's very funny and lighthearted but brings up some serious issues in the cases Jane takes on.
9. Gossip Girl
"Rich, unreasonably attractive private school student do horrible, scandalous things to each other. Repeatedly." – Netflix
One word. Perfection.
xoxo
10. Stranger Things
"A lost boy. A government lab steeped in terrible secrets. A mother who won't rest until her son is found." – Netflix
I'll be honest, I haven't finished this yet but it's not my fault! If it wasn't for the fact that I'm supposed to be watching it with my family I would have finished it on the first day. So good!
