We all have that one favorite movie or that one television show that we just can’t get enough of. For me it’s Grey’s Anatomy. Every Thursday I watch the newest episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, and what I take away from it is more than any book or lecture could ever teach me. This show has taught me, made me stronger, inspired me, and has even made me want to become a doctor at one point or another. Here’s 10 of the best life lessons only the true Grey’s Anatomy fans could appreciate.
1. Losing someone is a part of life
They say death is one of the hardest things to go through in life. That it’s tough to actually say goodbye and sometimes it’s even impossible. You never stop feeling that loss no matter how much time has passed and I guess that’s what makes things so bittersweet. Death is a part of life, and just because that person is gone doesn’t mean their memory has to be.
2. Everyone experiences heartbreak
Not every guy you meet is meant to be your prince charming. I guess that's what makes it so great when the right one finally shows up.
3. Always value those friendships
It's not every day we can find someone who values the same things as us and who we can also share all of our deepest darkest secrets with. If you find “your person” don’t lose them. Value that friendship and what they’ve taught you along the way.
4. It's okay to let your guard down
Life will always structure you when it comes to work, family, and even how we are supposed to love someone. Take the time to let your guard down, dance around in your underwear and just live life.
5. Surround yourself with good people
You spend most of your time surrounded by other people, so why not surround yourself with the best. Surround yourself with people who challenge you, love you, and make you the best you. Without the love of the ones around us what do we really have to look forward to everyday?
6. You don't need a man to make you happy
Girls, you need to understand that it’s okay to be single. You don’t need a man to be happy. You’ll find that special someone someday but in the meantime focus on you and making YOU happy.
7. There's nothing that food can't fix
You and your boyfriend just broke up, go order a large pizza and watch a movie. You just got fired, a box of chocolate is waiting on your nightstand. You just realized the movie you're watching is sadder than your life, throw the popcorn you’re eating at the screen. See, there’s nothing that food can’t fix.
8. Not everyone has to be happy all the time
It’s okay not to be happy all the time. Yes, it’s true a happy mind is a happy life. But understand it’s okay to be sad and not be depressed. Understand it’s okay to be mad and not be a negative person. Happiness is a choice but it’s not a bad choice to accept all of your emotions sometimes.
9. Your mistakes don't define you
We all make mistakes and that’s what makes us human. It’s how we learn from our mistakes that define our strength, our goals, and who we truly want to be in this life.
10. The best things happen unexpectedly
When people stop trying so hard, and stop searching for all the wrong things all of the right things suddenly start to make sense. Don’t always go looking for better, sit back and wait. Just wait, because when you least expect it your life will change right in front of you. Life will always change when you least expect it to.
