Shonda Rhimes is the beautiful soul that has given us the highly popular shows "Grey’s Anatomy," "Scandal" and "How to Get Away with Murder." I am almost certain everyone has heard of at least one of these shows, if not all of them. I personally am a huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy and HTGAWM. Yes, I know what you are thinking. I, too, wonder at the end of each episode whether Ms. Rhimes is trying to ruin my life with all the tragedies, broken relationships and dying characters, but I think every Shonda Rhimes fan can agree that we all learn something by watching her awesome shows. Here's what I've gotten from them.

1. Working in a hospital is actually hard work.

While it may seem like all that goes on inside Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital is relationship drama and someone finding out the person they have been working with is their long-lost sister, there actually is work being done. There are surgeries that happen and lives that are saved.

2. There is no problem Olivia Pope can’t fix.

No matter if it is a sex scandal, a close election or a murder, she has taken it all on. She is a true gladiator!

3. If you need a lawyer, contact Annalise Keating.

She will help you get away with murder, literally.

4. Saving lives is not the only thing that happens in hospitals.

In between lifesaving surgeries and emergency room craziness, there are spontaneous hook ups and meet ups at the bar across the street. Occasionally we have a petty fight or even a beautiful wedding (or not a real wedding; remember Derek and Meredith's sticky note?).

5. Law school is highly stressful, especially if you are trying to get away with murder while having to study for finals.

You thought simple undergraduate classes were hard, try being in a class that Annalise Keating is teaching and being a part of her team at the same time. These students are seriously dedicated.

6. Dance it out with your “person” whenever you have a problem.

Hey, dance parties are always great. If it works for Meredith and Christina, then it can work for me too.

7. You need hard work, dedication, and a little sex appeal to be a gladiator in a suit like Olivia Pope.

All of Shonda Rhimes’ main characters are amazing women that embody everything it means to be a gladiator!

8. Don’t get attached to any characters, they just might die!

Lexi Grey. Harrison Wright. Mark Sloan. Sam Keating. Need I say more?

9. You can lie and actually be good at it.

How else would you learn to get away with murder?

10. Women are beasts, they can do it all!

We can be doctors, lawyers and even campaign managers!

Thank you Shonda Rhimes!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
