The TV show "Doctor Who" first aired in 1963, and with a break from 1989 to 2005, the story of our beloved Doctor returned. The show revolves around a time and space traveler, the Doctor, and his companions' adventures in ecountering everything from aliens to monsters, and finding time to save the world along the way. Despite what it may seem, this TV show has a lot more to offer.

1. The world is better than you think

“When you’re a kid, they tell you it’s all… Grow up, get a job, get married, get a house, have a kid and that’s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It’s so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better.”

The world isn't exactly what your child self dreamed it to be. It can be mad, dark, strange and scary, but maybe that's what makes it better.

2. The universe of full of good and bad

“The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”

In life we experience things both good and bad, and while the good won't always keep the bad at bay, the bad won't necessarily sqaunder the good.

3. What you do with your time is up to you

“Some people live more in 20 years than others do in 80. It’s not the time that matters, it’s the person.”

It doesn't matter the time you have, only what you put into that time.

4. The importance of having people who will stick with you

“There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors… You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.”

In the game of life, there are a lot of tools to aid your journey, but that friend, that person you call your rock, they're the one's who matter the most.

5. The importance of standing up

“You don’t just give up. You don’t just let things happen. You make a stand! You say no! You have the guts to do what’s right, even when everyone else just runs away.”

Even if you're alone, it's always worth it to stand up. Don't give up because it's easier.

6. Everyone is important

"900 years of time and space, and I've never met anyone who wasn't important."

Everyone's important. It's that simple. Never let yourself believe otherwise.

7. Commonality

“You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common: they don't alter their views to fit the facts; they alter the facts to fit their views.”

If those with power and those with supposed stupidity have one thing in common, it's their strong beliefs.

8. Always make amends

"Never be cruel, and never be cowardly, and if you are, always make amends."

Life's too short to be cruel; however, if you are, take time to make amends.

9. Our memories are stories

"Everything ever told really happened. Stories are where memories go when they're forgotten."

Every story ever told is a memory long forgotten.

10. And as stories, we control our endings.

“We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?”

And if our lives, our memories, will become stories, we might as well make them count.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
