10 Things You Learn by Watching "Friends"

Friends is unarguably one of the best shows ever created. Taking you through the lives of six friends living in New York, Friends teaches you so many things, even if you don't notice it. Whether humorous or serious, here are 10 things you can learn by watching the hit show Friends:

1. New Holiday Mascots

Season 7: Episode 10 "The One With The Holiday Armadillo". Ross wants to teach his son, Ben, about the traditions of Hanukkah, but all Ben can think about is Christmas. When Ross finally gives up on Hanukah, he goes to rent a Santa Claus costume, but... well... that's not quite what he came home with.

2. All 50 States

Season 7: Episode 8 "The One Where Chandler Doesn't Like Dogs". It's Thanksgiving at Chandler and Monica's, and Chandler presents the game where you have six minutes to name all 50 states... It's a lot harder than it sounds.

3. Grammar lessons

Season 4: Episode 1 "The One With The Jellyfish". The gang is just getting back from the beach, and Ross and Rachel had just gotten back together after a separation. Rachel has some requirements that Ross must agree to before they can be back together. She writes him an 18 page letter (FRONT AND BACK) to tell him just what he has to do. Ross isn't particularly happy with what she has to say... or her lack of grammar..

4. True Love

True love's comparison to lobsters occurs a few times in the Friends series, but it is introduced by Phoebe in Season 2: Episode 14 "The One With The Prom Video". She says that once a lobster finds one mate, they stay together for the entirety of their lives.

5. What happens when you take somebody's underwear

Season 3: Episode 2 "The One Where No One's Ready". Fighting over a seat with Chandler, Joey leaves and takes the cushions of the chair with him. Chandler, in turn, takes Joey's underwear. To get back at him for that, Joey does the "opposite" and wears everything that Chandler owns.

6. The boundaries of relationships

Ross swears he was on a break with Rachel when he slept with the woman from the copy place, but Rachel sees it differently. In SEVERAL different episodes, Ross tries to convince Rachel that they were. Moral of the story... make sure you were on a break.

7. To say the right name at the altar

Season 4: Episode 24 "The One With Ross's Wedding: Part 2". Ross is getting married to Emily in London... Great! Except, it's not so great when he says Rachel's name instead of Emily's at the altar.

8. How to move a couch up the stairs

Season 5: Episode 16 "The One With The Cop". Ross buys a new couch for his apartment that he absolutely loves. The only problem is, they have a hard time taking it up the stairs. But no worries, all you have to do is PIVOT!

9. How to speak French

Season 10: Episode 13 "The One Where Joey Speaks French". Joey put that he was fluent in French on his resume, and with that not being true, he takes a couple different routes to try to learn it before a big audition.

10. Friendship

Most importantly, Friends teaches you just how important friendship is, and it does this through 10 amazing seasons.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
