Tis the season to be spooked. We all enjoy the October air and hint of screams in our ears. I've found 10 haunted houses that you should enjoy before we go straight to Thanksgiving.


1) Wicked World Scaregrounds

This is a Nicholasville haunt.

The haunt includes 3 attractions: The Nightmare Haunted House, the Terror on Tates Creek, and the newly added Quarantine. Each individual attraction is $12. For $20 you get access to The Nightmare Haunted House and the Terror on Tates Creek. For $25 you get access to all three attractions. You can also purchase a $10 speed pass.

Wicked World Scaregrounds operates Friday and Saturday from 7:30 pm to Midnight. They are also open on Thursday and Sunday from 7:30 to 10 pm.

2) Fright Nights at Jacobson Park

This is a Lexington haunt.

The haunt includes 3 attractions: The Dark Forest, Entrapment, and 13 Doors. Regular admission, which includes all three attractions, is $29.75 + tax. The R.I.P speed pass is $39.75 + tax. This haunt takes place at Jacobson Park in Lexington Ky.

Fright Nights at Jacobson Park is open Friday and Saturday from 7:30 pm to 1 am, Thursday and Sunday 7:30 to 10 pm. They will also be open on Halloween 7:30 to 10 pm.

3) Field of Screams

This haunt is based in Brandenburg, KY.

This haunt takes you through a six acre cornfield maze, a horrendous (their words not mine) two story barn, the forest, the Hayride from Hell, and the newly added Scream Tag. For the main event, which is the Field of Screams plus the Scream Tag, tickets will be $25. The other main event includes the same features as the first, but adds a gun, and is $30. The Hayride to Hell on its own is $15. Scream Tag on its own will be $15. For all events, the cost will be $35.

Field of Screams opens Friday and Saturday 7 pm to 1 am.

4) FFA Field of Terror

This corn maze is located in Bardstown, KY.

This haunt is produced by the local FFA in efforts to raise money for their club. The maze costs $10. FFA Field of Terror is stretched along 7 acres of land with a winding 1 mile path.

This haunt is open October 22, 28, and 29 from 8 pm to 11 pm.

5) Devils Attic

This haunt is a Louisville based haunt.

The Devils Attic is a haunted house that plays on some childhood fear. The Devils Attic has two options: General Admission - $20 and Speed Pass - $24.

The haunt is open Friday and Saturday from 8 pm to 12:30 am. On Sundays they are open 8 pm to midnight.

6) The Waverly Hills Sanatorium Haunted House

This adventure is in Louisville.

The Waverly Hills Sanatorium Haunted House takes place in one of the most haunted places on Earth. The general admission cost is $20. They also give you an option to do the $60 VIP package which gets you a mini tour through the upper floors of the building to learn the history of Waverly. The VIP tickets are limited, and they recommend you purchase them early because they do sell out. They also charge a $5 parking fee. This is a cash only haunt.

The gates open every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and the haunted house starts at 8 pm. They close at midnight.

7.) Baxter Avenue Morgue

This adventure is based in Louisville.

Baxter Avenue Morgue will open its doors to the public for the first time in 100 years. This haunted house has a general admission ticket for $20, and a speed pass for $35.

Baxter Avenue Morgue operates Thursday through Saturday 8 pm to 1 am. They are also open on Sundays from 8 to 11 pm. On Halloween they will open at 8 and close at 11 pm.

8) 7th Street Haunt

A Louisville haunt.

7th Street Haunt is an award winning haunted attraction. It includes two different attractions, The Experiment and Ft Harmony's Revenge. This haunt has professional actors hired to scare the crap out of ya! The cost of each attraction is $20. You can purchase a combo package for $28.

7th Street Haunt is open Friday and Saturday from 8 pm to 2 am. They are also open on Sundays from 8 to 10:30 pm.

9.) Skeleton's Lair Scream Park

Based in Scottsville, KY.

Skeleton's Lair Scream Park is a location that offer 5 attractions. Skeleton's Lair Haunted Woods, Sanitarium and Haunted House of Wax, Skeletal Visions 3D, Gold City Ghostride, and Doomsday Doll Factory. The general admission tickets are $22 and includes the Gold City Ghostride, the Haunted Woods, and the Skeletal Visions 3D. If you need more, you can buy the combo ticket which includes the general admission attractions plus the Doomsday Doll Factory. The Famous Faces fast pass is an additional $10.

This establishment operates on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The gates open at 7. They will be open for Halloween.

10) Fallsburg Fearplex

Located in Louisa, KY.

Fallsburg Fearplex is a haunt with four attractions. The Backwoods Blackout, Crazy Creek, Fallsburg Haunted House, and the Appalachian Nightmare 3D. Its $22 for all 4 attractions, and $40 for the speed pass.

This establishment operates on Friday and Saturday from 30 minutes before dark until midnight.
