The best part about being home from school, hands down, is being with your best friends from home. Between your mom and dad's rules and summer work, you will always have your friends to take up the extra time. They were there all through middle and high school and now being away from them is so hard, but they make every break and summer the best, and you can't thank them enough for it.
1. They were there through the awkward years.
I can never repay them for sticking around through the braces, awkward country braids every day and the outfits that should be burned.
2. They don't mind when you blow up the group message.
OK maybe they do, but they read every text and always respond. They listen to every crazy story that happens when you're at school, and you love telling them. You gladly listen to their stories too, because it's your favorite part of the day talking to them.
3. They created your high school experience.
Don't get me wrong, I love college, but high school had its peaks. It was drama filled, and sometimes constraining, but without your friends, you wouldn't have made it through. They created your entire experience and all the amazing memories are owed to them.
4. They basically are a part of your family.
They've been around for a while, so your mom is their mom, and their mom is yours. At this point you can sit around and talk to their family like they are yours and walk into their house with no second thought. Shout out to you, Momma!
5. They are the ones you turn to when you need a break from school or are feeling homesick.
They are the little piece of home you need when school just gets too overwhelming. They help calm you down and remind you home isn't as far away as you think.
6. They even add to your college experience.
Most likely you and your best friends from home go to different colleges, so fun things happening at their schools give you an excuse to visit them and be a part of their college experience also. Plus, who doesn't love going away for the weekend and visiting a different party scene and your best friends?
7. They make home feel like home.
Aside from your family, your friends are the ones who make you want to go home. Sure, you are sad about leaving college and your freedom, but your home friends are the reason why going home for break makes you smile. You get to make up for all the missed time with them while you were all away. Plus, catching up is the best part!
So sure you've made really good friends at college, but your home friends will always be your first best friends. I can't thank mine enough for always sticking by my side. I love you endlessly.
