We all have that one friend who is a complete sucker for any trip to Target ... or maybe that friend is us. Either way, there is no greater joy than walking into the lavishly red-colored store that happily empties your wallet. For those of us who are near-obsessed, we have a few confessions to make about how Target affects our lives.
1. We mentally prepare our over-spending minds.
Repeat after me: only buy one box of pasta and a bottle of Febreeze. *Leaves store with a new wardrobe, stainless steel pan, throw pillow, and dog treats*
2. There's a satisfying sensation within the first whiff of Target popcorn.
I grew up eating that popcorn as if shopping at Target with my mom was some kind of entertaining field trip. Now, I inhale that reminiscent scent of buttery popped kernels with an expression on my face that says, "Let's shop."
3. Fighting to resist the dollar section.
Mini Goldfish snacks? Notebooks? Halloween pens? "Finding Dory" tissues? Take my money, just take it.
4. We always see someone we know while shopping.
Whether your BFF works the cash register or your neighbor is buying detergent, there's a 99.9 percent chance you won't miss them when walking the aisles of Target.
5. Our homes consist of mainly Target brands.
My kitchen is loaded with Archer Farms almonds and Market Pantry tea, while my house decor came exclusively from Room Essentials and my new shirt is labeled Xhilaration. #noshame
6. We secretly hope given gift cards are Target gift cards.
We will always appreciate the thought and generosity of someone's gift, but man if they give a Target gift card, they may have stolen my heart.
7. Getting ahead on Christmas gifts in July because why not?
Collage photo frame for Mom, premium knife set for Dad, and GoPro accessories for the bro. And maybe some new candles and socks for moi...
8. We're always in style.
9. We rely on every basic need to be met at Target.
Sure the local grocery store keeps us stocked up, but frankly, Target does it better. What better place to buy your toilet paper than the same place where you can get workout clothes?
10. We go in smiling and we leave smiling.
Hey, I mean, if therapy isn't working for you, try weekly trips to Target. Your wallet may be cringing, but at least your heart is full. Isn't that all that matters in life?
