1. Home-cooked meals.
Regardless if you cooked at home or your parents did, there's nothing more satisfying than a home-cooked meal after eating in your school cafeteria for an entire semester. Suddenly something so simple as pasta and meatballs becomes a gourmet meal to you.
2. Doing laundry at home.
When you lived at home laundry was so easy, mainly because your mom just added your dirty clothes in with her load. Now you're paying to do laundry at school in these ancient machines, and there's no guarantee your clothes will smell better afterwards. In fact, those washers and dryers smelled a little funky before you added in the clothes, didn't they?
3. Mom and Dad checking up on you.
Growing up, you got annoyed when Mom and Dad called you every hour to make sure you were okay. Now? Those phone calls are something you look forward to because it's just nice to hear your parents' voices, and it shows they care -- especially when they send you money because you're broke.
4. Scheduling your classes.
As a freshman, you probably get the shitty end of the stick when it comes to scheduling classes because of seniority. As the years go, you get more freedom to pick the classes you want, and the best time they're offered. So now, your classes don't start until at least 12 p.m. every day and you get to sleep in.
5. Personal space.
After living with a roommate you probably didn't get along with freshman year, you've never been so happy to have a bedroom to yourself or an apartment where you have your own privacy. No more random people sleeping over, no more using your stuff without asking, no more sharing one large bathroom with 20 other girls on your floor. What a relief!
6. Your new friends.
Through all the stress that comes with college, you've never been so happy to have a close group of friends you can always count on. These people are your home away from home and have probably helped you through countless breakdowns and panic attacks. Your life would be miserable and boring without your new friends.
7. Your job.
Face it, money is tight nowadays. Although you dread going into work every so often, you're still grateful to have a job. Money is the motive -- and so are bills.
8. Free anything.
The phrase "free is for me" has now become your new motto. It's good to know there are people in this world that understand the struggles of a broke college student. Anything that's labeled free is gold in your eyes. Free concerts, free food, free tee shirts -- it's like Christmas came early this year.
9. Netflix.
TGFN: Thank God For Netflix. When you're bored or trying to procrastinate, Netflix has your back. Most of the time you aren't the one paying for it, but that doesn't mean you can't reap all the benefits of having a Netflix account. It's become an essential part of living for the majority of college students. Even if you don't have Netflix, there's always the option to chill with someone who does.
10. The weekend.
After a long week of classes and school work, you always look forward to the weekend. Whether it's a house party, the bar, or relaxing at home, there's a lot of ways for people to unwind.
