Packing for your first year of college can be pretty stressful. There's no way getting around it; there will definitely be things you forget and things you wish you had. To help you out here's a list of 10 things you may not have thought of, but you will definitely want!
1. Lap Desk
Sure, your regular school desk works, but late night study sessions are much easier from the comfort of your bed. A lap desk with storage underneath ensures you can comfortably study for as long as you want.
2. Brita Filter
Obviously your dorm will have access to sinks and/or water fountains, but do you really want to drink that water? Who knows how many germs are coming into contact with those faucets every day. A water filter is much cheaper than buying bottled water and ensures you still have drinking water you know is clean.
3. Dishes and Utensils
You're not going to want to eat campus food every night, plain and simple. Make sure you have dishes so you can make cute Pinterest microwave meals from the comfort of your dorm room!
4. Cleaning Supplies
Your room is going to need to be cleaned regularly. If you don't clean it, by the end of the first month things are going to be looking and smelling pretty gruesome. Make sure you at least have some cleaning wipes and a tiny vacuum to keep things somewhat tidy.
5. A Stuffed Animal
Sometimes, you just need a hug from your old favorite childhood toy. You'd be amazed by how much comfort that bundle of stuffing can bring to you.
6. Board Games
You'd think living with all your friends in a dorm you would never get bored. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Bringing an old board game or set of cards will definitely save you on a few lazy nights in.
7. Ear Plugs
The dorms will get extremely loud. Unfortunately, everyone has different sleeping patterns so sometimes it will seem that the noise is just about constant. Make sure you can actually get a few hours of sleep before important exams by doing yourself a favor and bringing a set of earplugs.
8. A Pet
At my college my only option for a pet is a fish. While this may not be the cutest or most fun pet, it's at least something.
9. An Old Photo Album
Reminiscing about your childhood is always a fun time killer. It's also a great way to show your new college friends what your life was like growing up and how stinking cute you used to be!
10. A Door Stop
Nothing makes you seem more friendlier than an open door. Show your new dorm mates that your excited to make new friends by keeping your door propped open when ever your around for at least the first week. You never know who may stop by. You could just happen to meet your next best friend!
