It's that time of year again when Christmas shopping is on everyone's mind but savings accounts are running at that end-of-semester-low. Holidays can be a little awkward when you're in this situation; you want to get everyone a gift, but you can't afford to do so. So here's a list of ten Christmas gifts under five dollars to help you out during the Christmas crush.

1. Try your hand at lettering and put your friend's favorite quote in a nice frame (the only thing you'll probably have to buy!).

2. Buy your friend a book they've been wanting for one cent on Amazon. Shipping is usually $3.99.


3. Bake a batch of cookies or brownies. Chances are you have most of the ingredients in your cupboard!


4. Grab a $5 Starbucks gift card. Who doesn't love getting a "free" frapp?


5. Pay for a month of their Spotify premium ($4.99) for students.

6. Buy them their favorite lotion from Bath and Body Works.

7. Buy them a cute mug and fill it with their favorite candy.


8. Buy them a cute little succulent for their dorm.


9. Get them a box of their favorite tea.


10. Write them a nice handwritten letter to be received during finals weeks. Gifts don't always have to cost money.
