Everyone is obsessed with what show to watch next on Netflix or Hulu. Well, when you can't seem to find a movie that you're really feeling, or when you've binged all the shows you can binge, why not try reading a book? Here is a list of amazing book series and stand alones that will be a refreshing change to your entertainment.

1. "The Magicians" Series by Lev Grossman

"The Magicians" is like a mix of "Harry Potter" and "Narnia." It has magic, adventure, excitement, and a lot of drama, and if you liked "Harry Potter" or "Narnia" then you'll obviously love this trilogy.

2. The "A Song of Ice and Fire" Series by George R.R. Martin

Everyone has heard of the show, but fewer people have read the books. Take the dive and immerse yourself into the world of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series in book form.

3. "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany

"Harry Potter" is extremely popular in its book and movie forms, and as some may know another installment of the story has just been released. The book is actually a script of a play now being performed in England.

4. "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer

The "Twilight" author Stephanie Meyer also wrote this fascinating sci-fi/fantasy novel called "The Host." It also has a movie version, but to really feel connected to the characters and fall in love with the story the book is the way to go.

5. "The Fallen" Series by Thomas E. Sniegoski

This series is about the children of fallen angels and their mission to protect the Earth while being hunted down themselves. It's a great combination of fantasy and a little religion.

6. The "Witch and Wizard" Series by James Patterson

If you've read the "Maximum Ride" series then you'll love this series from the same author about a brother and sister in a dystopian America who find out they're actually a witch and a wizard.

7. "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes

If the recent movie version of this novel brought you to tears then go ahead and cause yourself some more emotional pain by reading the book and its sequel.

8. "Life and Death" by Stephanie Meyer

"Life and Death" is a gender-swapped version of "Twilight." If you already love "Twilight" then you'll love reading this version that Stephanie Meyer wrote for the anniversary of the first book's release.

9. "The Secret Circle" Series by L.J. Smith

From the same author that wrote "The Vampire Diaries" comes "The Secret Circle," a series about a group of teen witches and all the trouble they get into.

10. The "His Dark Materials" Series by Philip Pullman

This fantasy series is about an alternate dimension where people's souls walk beside them in the form of animals called daemons. It follows a young girl named Lyra and her daemon named Pan and their many adventures including the search for Lyra's true origins.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
