10 Binge Worthy Netflix Series To Catch Up On This Summer

Netflix is both the greatest and most annoying invention since time began. They have provided limitless options right at our fingertips, and yet the process of deciding on which show or movie to choose is so exhausting — especially when you've just finished an entire series. Netflix does try to help us out by filtering categories based on previous watching history and recommending trending shows, but we all know there are at least five titles on those lists that we wouldn't watch even if it was the last thing on Netflix. So whether you're into the sci-fi dramas, sports, or even historical fictions, I've compiled the ten best shows to catch up on this summer -- that is, if you binge-watching junkies haven't already consumed them.

1. Supernatural

For most people, it is hard to past the first season of the show, as it's filled with all of our childhood nightmares and things that go bump in the night. However, there is more to this show than just blasting salt-rocks and eating pie. As the seasons progress, so does the development of one of the most well-written and thought out story-lines of family, faith, and friendship. With ten seasons currently streaming, and the eleventh due out at the end of the summer before its twelfth season airs this October, the series will last you well into next spring.

2. Friday Night Lights

This adaptation, loosely based on both the film and book, chronicles the obsession of high school football in the small town of Dillon, Texas. The show focuses on how life changes for those whose lives are deeply impacted by one bad tackle that leaves their star quarterback paralyzed from the waist down. It's not only the drama that ensues over five seasons that draws the audience in, but also the every day topics they touch on as these boys battle the fame that comes with being a Panther. With clear eyes and full hearts, you just can't stop watching this Texas heart throb of a show.

3. Parks and Recreation

Seven seasons of "Parks and Recreations" is never enough. The script is humorous through and through, but this is also a genuine story line of love, friendship, and overall growing up. Characters like Andy Dwyer and April Ludgate are the undertoned heart beat of the show and bring an honest truth to the story lines intertwined within the small Parks department of Pawnee, IL. This is definitely a show to watch if you need a laugh or two.

4. Gilmore Girls

Hands down, this is the best show to watch to get those 90's feels! With the revival due out this fall, there is no better time than the summer to catch up or even rewatch the Gilmore girls' life unfold in the town of Stars Hollow. The bond between Rory and Loreli incites a pang of jealousy, but the show makes you feel apart of their life from beginning to end. And who can't say Dean, Logan, and Jess didn't have them swooning, too? I definitely suggest picking this show back up and reliving those desires for a burger from Luke's or a friend like Lane.

5. Breaking Bad

If you're into a different kind of drama, with a serious vibe, I'd check out Walter White's story in Breaking Bad. From the get-go, this story line grabs you hook, line, and sinker. Each episode you're left with a feeling of wonder. Will anyone find out about Walter's secret life as a meth cook? And when they does, what will happen? The desire to know what will happen is so great that you'll actually hit the play next button, instead of waiting those ten seconds before another episode begins.

6. The Vampire Diaries

The CW has cranked out a number of top-rated television series, from Supernatural to Arrow. And, like these other shows, you can't just watch one episode of "The Vampire Diaries." After the death of Elena's parents, high school doesn't get much easier. As she spirals into a life of the undead, life gets complicated — especially when the Salvatore brothers are so darn good looking. Watch the show to find out how Mystic Falls goes from small town charm, to the undead hot spot of the East coast.

7. White Collar

White Collar follows the relationship between Fed and Con as one of the most notorious con-artists, Neal Caffrey, joins forces with the FBI's Peter Burke to catch people just like him! But, once a con, always a con seems to be a constant theme of the show as Neal tries to escape his new-found "freedom" while also developing a friendship with his enemy. He's the criminal we hate to love and you find yourself constantly on your toes with each episode, conflicted in hoping he gets away — when really all you want is for him to stay by Burke's side and keep fighting white collar crime.

8. Graceland

For any crime show, drama junkie, "Graceland" fits the bill as it is based on actual actual events. Somewhere in SoCal sits a beach house brimming with undercover agents from the DEA to Transportation Agents all taking on the Caza Cartel. When rookie agent Mike Warren enters the mix, he has no idea what he's in for, and "Graceland" is nothing short of unexpected. To uncover the secrets enclosed behind Graceland's doors I suggest bunkering down for a day (or two) as the short three season listing will be sure to have your eyes glued to the screen.

9. Prison Break

Lilo and Stitch taught us that Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind. Michael Scofield seems to take that motto very seriously in "Prison Break," where he gets locked up on purpose to break his brother Lincoln out for a crime he didn't commit. The show is intense, mind blowing, and well thought out. And don't be sad when you finish it, because this fall they're coming back with a fifth season, where the show takes a drastic twist the series finale would have never let you predict.

10. That 70's Show

That 70's Show is where we fell in love with Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, and our hearts skipped beats years down the road when they fell in love with each other. We never understood what was up with that table in the basement, but now that we're older this show makes a lot more sense while also giving us a little nostalgia for good times with old friends. This one is just for a little giggle at the end of a long day.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
