The 10 Best Things About Coming Home From College

College is a weird time where you have two homes in two different cities with many different people. Going home on breaks is a mix between feeling like nothing has changed and feeling like a tourist. What are the best things about being home, you ask? Well, I’ve got some answers:

1. Being with your family.

Catching up on family shows, going to dinner as a complete family, and laughing until we cry- the OG squad is back together.

2. Reuniting with your best friends.

It’s like nothing has changed, except you have no idea who the people they’re telling stories about are.

3. Sleeping in your own bed.

Going from a twin XL to my nice queen sized bed at home means sleeping diagonal ALL break. You never want to leave your bed.

4. Two-ply toilet paper.

After using toilet paper that’s pretty much sandpaper for the last three months at college, coming home to two ply feels as good as chicken tenders taste.

5. Seeing your pets.

The BEST part about coming home, let’s be real. Pets make everything better.

6. Driving around your hometown.

One hand on the wheel thinking, “Dang, I missed these streets."

7. Catching up with your siblings.

Being home from college also means catching up on all the drama that surrounds your siblings. You've missed out on a lot of the drama while gone.

8. Eating food that isn't disgusting.

By the time I took my last final, I would rather die than eat one more morsel of dining hall food. Home cooked meals, WHERE YOU AT?

9. Looking cute everyday instead of looking homeless.

At school, I’m sleep deprived, hungry and stressed. At home, I feel like new and rejuvenated human being (AKA I will actually put on make up and do my hair).

10. Realizing how great college is, but how good home feels.

You can have a new appreciation for hometown, but also a new appreciation for your new home and all the friends you spend day and night with there.

College is one of the best seasons of life, but never forget where you came from. There really is no place like home!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
