Thanksgiving is just around the corner and my mouth waters just thinking about it. While getting to see family and celebrate the holidays is great, it's not truly complete without the food. The turkey, the mashed potatoes, the vegetables, and most importantly the pies, are what make Thanksgiving special. In light of this, we need to prepare ourselves for the glorious meal that lies before us by making our list now of what has to be on our table at the end of the week. Even more importantly, we need to prepare to make all of this food for our family, and quick. So here it goes:
1. Turkey
The centerpiece of the table and the most important part of the meal. Careful not to make it too dry!
2. Mashed potatoes
So light and fluffy. Basically a cloud on a plate. You can't forget the gravy!
3. Green bean casserole
Those crunchy onions on top just make the whole thing better, and if you're going to eat vegetables, this is the best way!
4. Rolls
There's nothing better than warm rolls with butter. Homemade rolls are ideal. Mmmm...
5. Stuffing
A mix of everything good in the world. You may not always know what it is you're eating, but it's always delicious.
6. Cranberry sauce
The unsung hero of the group, cranberry sauce doesn't get enough credit for being a delicious, sweet topping to enhance the turkey. Give cranberry sauce its props and make sure to put it on your table this year.
7. Sweet potatoes
My personal favorite, sweet potatoes add so much depth to Thanksgiving dinner. You can roast them or mash them and they will be sure to disappear fast!
8. Glazed carrots
Maybe not everyone's favorite, but still a staple food of Thanksgiving dinners everywhere. Add a little honey, and even the kids won't be able to get enough of these veggies!
9. Pecan pie
When it's time for dessert, you cross your fingers that someone brings this one out. Not as popular as pumpkin pie, but equally as important. Yum!
10. Pumpkin pie
The classic. If you have nothing else this Thanksgiving, you have to have pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving just wouldn't be the same without it. Add a dollop of whipped cream for the final touch.
Now that your mouth is watering, it's time to plan your Thanksgiving menu and start cooking! The family is on their way and they're hungry -- really hungry. And while all the food is amazing, we cannot forget to enjoy the people we are with even more. So have an amazing Thanksgiving and fill your stomach with all the great food you have prepared and fill your heart with the love of your family.
