As the fall semester approaches study playlists are on most students essential lists and as it's the end of the summer, I'm pretty sure most of us have more than overplayed our favorite summer songs. So as you browse through Spotify over the next few days here are some new artists to consider.

1. The Head and The Heart

Brief Bio: Consisting of six members, this Seattle based band is labeled as indie folk and was formed in 2009, and have a new album "Sign of Lights" ready for release this month.

Songs You'll Love: "Shake", "Rivers and Roads" (Featured in New Girl), "These Days are Numbered," and "All We Ever Knew"

2. Wild Child

Brief Bio: Best defined by singer songwriter Kelsey Wilson (vocalist and violinist) and Alexander Beggins (vocalist and ukulele) Wild Child is an Austin based indie rock band (with folk influences) with their most recent album being "Fools" released in 2015.

Songs You'll Love: "Pillow Talk," "Anna Maria,"Here Now," "Home," and "Here Now"

3. The Lumineers

Brief Bio: This Denver based band consists of Wesley Shultz (lead vocals/ guitar) Jerimaiah Fraites (Drums/ percussion) and Neyla Pekarek (Cellist) are folk rock best known for their breakout track "Hey Ho" but have recently released their second album "Cleopatra."

Songs You'll Love: "Nobody Knows" "Classy Girls" "Angela" "Stubborn Love" and "Cleopatra"

4. The Hunts

Brief Bio: The Hunts are an alt-folk band composed of seven brothers and sisters from Chesapeake Virginia who have been preforming together most of their life but released their first Album in 2012.

Songs You'll Love: "Make this Leap," "Valentia," "Lifting the Sea," and "Remember Us"

5. Swear and Shake

Brief Bio:Swear and Shake is an Americana band consisting of members Kari Spieler (vocals and guitar) Adam McHeffey (vocals, guitar, and bannjo) , Shaun Savage (Bass) and are based in New York, NY with a debut album "Maple Ridge" released in 2012.

6. The National Parks

Brief Bio: The National Parks is a primarily five member band that formed in 2013 with their most recent album being "Until I Live."

7. The Strumbellas

Brief Bio: Founded in 2008, this alternative pop band is based in Toronto and released their latest album, "Hope" in 2015.

8. Blind Pilot

Brief Bio: This indie pop band located in Portland formed in 2007 and have recently released their newest album "And Then Like Lions" this past summer.

9. Fleet Foxes

Brief Bio: Fleet Foxes are an American indie folk band that formed in 2005 and have released three albums, and they are currently based out of New York.

10.Morningsiders

Brief Bio: This American folk band consists of four members and is based in New York, New York and was founded in 2012.

Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day.
