Going to the beach is the ideal summer day. Well, when you live in Los Angeles, it seems like the ideal thing to do every day, year-round. The water, the sand and the sun are very picturesque. With Los Angeles having sunny days practically all year round, it’s impossible to avoid the beach. However, the beach isn’t all fun and games, there are still struggles that come with going to the beach. Here are 10 awkward things that an average person will encounter while on his or her trip to the beach:
1. Everyone seems to be going to the beach on the EXACT day that you’re going. Traffic is inevitable. Buses run slow. All hope is lost.
2. It’s so hot that your sunscreen is most likely running off and your sunglasses are slipping due to sweat, but you trudge onwards anyway.
3. You finally get to the beach and you have to walk what it seems like five hundred miles to get close to the shore.
4. Walking in sand is very hard; running in sand is even harder. Also, everything is harder in flip flops, but walking on sand barefoot is like walking on hot coals.
5. You finally find a place to settle down. When you throw down your towel, sand flies everywhere.
6. You want to go swimming, but chances are, there is no one around to watch your things. You trust the strangers sunbathing next to you and you’re willing to take the risk of your stuff getting stolen.
7. You try to go into the ocean; however, being the Pacific Ocean, it makes your body go completely numb because it’s absolutely freezing.
8. You’re tanning and trying to defrost your body after that freezing incident. And you fall asleep while sunbathing and wake up red.
9. There is a constant fear of birds dropping things on you from the sky.
10. The real struggle is walking back to your car/bus at the end of the day. Sun makes you tired, and you’re definitely feeling it. Just be sure to not fall asleep on the bus.
