1. The Sun, That beautiful source of light in the sky that makes our skin so very warm, and also gives our heart joy. Just the sight of the sun can bring a smile to someones face.

2. The Smell of Fresh plants growing, Fresh flowers have a way of lighting up a household, and fresh greens are always better in the summer, when Farmers Markets are a must.

3. The Sight of people being outside, We live in a world that is unamously dependent on technology but when summer breaks through that is not always the case. Families are outside bonding in every way the summer offers and that gives many comfort in knowing that we as a society have not failed. We just need a little summer.

4. The Activities are always better, The summer allows many more activities that the other seasons forbid. Summer allows for biking on such beautiful nature trials, fishing on open waters, hiking that high peak you have talked about all winter, or finally getting to jump in the pool with your friends. Whatever the activity is, I am sure summer permits it. These activities get us out of the funk of everyday life and into something spontaneous.

5. The Lake, For the many of us that live in upstate NY, lakes are always a must. They provide for a good environment to relax on the shore, or even a good place to hop on your boat and feel the wind through your hair. Whatever the case maybe Upstate New Yorkers cannot wait for lake season.

6. The Food is that much sweeter, We don't have the priviledge of sweet Corn on the Cob all year round so when summer hits, we sink our teeth into the best corn we can find, which gives way for a happy person eating great food, instead of the sub-par we are used to in the winter.

7. Picnics are Prevalent, Many usually don't experience a summer without a picnic whether it is with friends, family, or a signifigant other the obeisance of the outside makes for a good atmosphere, rather than the restaurant walls were trapped in all winter.

8. Soft- Serve is no brainer, The awesome taste of your favorite soft-serve cannot be beat, and is usually indulged in more than once weekly, which in the summer is totally okay. Soft-Serve is that sweet treat that we all look forward too, and miss it when it is gone; but when it is here it usually does a good job of satisfying that late night craving after a day out on the lake, or by the pool.

9. Sight-Seeing, Many of us live in small towns but would be surprised at what lies beyond our own cities limit's. Even just traveling 20 minutes, you can find great views of open lands, and find tranquility in doing so. Driving along at a slow speed taking in all of natures beauty is always at the top of my list.

10. The Many Sounds of Nature, Whether it is in your own backyard or in the backwoods of a nature trail, the environment offers many soothing sounds that help to keep one balanced. Sometimes it's the sound of the mockingbirds song in the morning or of the water flowing down the stream near your house. These noises keep us sane in the summer, and never seem to disappoint.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
