In college, it is easy to get distracted by our phones. Whether we’re in class, on the bus, or even hanging out with our friends, our phones tend to be this ever-present thing that sucks us in and doesn’t let us escape until it’s ready for us too. Over the years phones have found new ways to distract us. Apps of all shapes and sizes have been created and here I’ve narrowed down my top ten apps that can keep you distracted in class. You’ve been warned.

Instagram

Getting lost in Instagram is way too easy. One second, you’re looking at your home feed and then you’re liking some random strangers engagement photos from the trending page. It’s a serious problem. Don’t do this in class or you’ll never recover.

Snapchat

Not only will Snapchat draw you in with your own friends and snaps, but thanks to the new update THAT NO ONE ASKED FOR you can end up watching story after story that you never excepted or planned to watch. This has happened to me on many occasions and it has stolen hours of my life away.

Amazon

If you’ve never gotten on Amazon to look for a book for class and ended up looking at the most random things like shower speakers or a phone case that’s also lighter, then you just aren’t doing it right (You’d also be lying because I’m pretty sure everyone has done this).

Rolly Vortex

THIS GAME. If you’ve never played it, then really don’t because you will never put it down. It’s amazing. That’s all I can really say.

Knife Hit

This game is infuriating while also the most amazing thing I’ve ever played in my life. I open this game before a lecture and I end up on level 18 in like 2 minutes and then I die and then I have to start all over. DON’T DO IT.

Splashy

This is one of those stupid little games that you constantly see being repped on Instagram and it’s actually not that bad but it’s addicting, and you’ve got to be careful where you play it because you’ll never stop.

Dune

Another one of those Insta games that draws you in and ruins your life.

Pinterest

If you’re not a fan of Pinterest than you have a long life full of free time ahead of you, because I’ve got so much of my future set aside to looking at dogs and crafting and meal prepping and shopping that I need Pinterest just to sort it all out. Of course, then I find more stuff to do because of Pinterest and I end up looking at Grey’s Anatomy quotes for an hour...but that’s beside the point.

Any Shopping App (My app of choice is Etsy)

Don’t shop in class. Just don’t do it. One person does it and the next thing you know everyone around them is doing it. It’s an epidemic. Don’t believe me? Watch it happen in class sometime.

Facebook

Facebook is dangerous. First there’s the family and friends, but then there’s the cat videos and kids singing and Facebook fights about the President and you get so sucked in that you just can’t get out and you don’t know how you got there and you’re scared.

Moral of the story – don’t use apps in class unless you wanna fail. Because you will.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
