It's that time of the year again; Halloween has passed and now we're onto to the next holiday: Thanksgiving. Yes, Thanksgiving - NOT Christmas. Look, I enjoy Christmas. I love spending time with my family, giving gifts, eating food, eating more food, sleeping, drinking, eating some more, but there is a such a thing as celebrating Christmas too early and it drives me bananas. Poor Thanksgiving always gets left out.
If you're a grinch such as myself who prefers to wait until after Thanksgiving, then these 10 things will definitely annoy you about Christmas being celebrated at the beginning of November:
1. All of the holiday/Christmas decorations on display everywhere you go
Stores need to calm down with putting up the santas and reindeer in October.
2. Christmas music in November
Play Christmas music in my car before Thanksgiving and I'll throw you out of my car. Just kidding - not really.
3. Being asked "Have you started shopping for presents?"
No, I haven't started shopping for presents. I actually dread shopping for gifts because when I ask someone what they want, the response is usually "I don't know" 95 percent of the time.
4. Seeing all of the Facebook posts of people boasting "Now that Halloween is over, I can put up my tree!"
Whoop-de-doo, you put up your tree and decorations. What do you want, a medal?
5. Christmas shopping in general
I love shopping, but dread Christmas shopping. The crowds are too much. I used to love going shopping on Black Friday, but now I prefer to stay inside and order gifts off of Amazon or make them myself. I like sleep more than I like people.
6. The anxiety that comes with shopping for gifts
I'm one of those people who waits until the last minute to go shopping for presents. Stressing over what my loved ones want, budgeting for gifts and crowds in stores send my anxiety through the roof.
7. People who are just way too excited for Christmas in November
No, just no.
8. People who insist "Christmas is the best holiday"
I disagree. Halloween is the best holiday since there's no pressure to give gifts, dress fancy or travel all over the place. Christmas is kind of stressful in my opinion.
9. Seeing houses with their Christmas lights and displays out the day after Halloween
I mean, can't you wait another month?
10. Completely disregarding Thanksgiving
ONE HOLIDAY AT A TIME.
Happy Thanksgiving! Now enjoy your feast before you go crazy with snapping pictures of your tree and all things holly-jolly or whatever.
