Money is a menace, especially when it comes to college students. College is the first place where many students can try out new and adventurous things. Though, the problem that keeps most of the students away from these possibilities is the issue of money. While in college, having extra money for things other than books and school supplies is often seen as a luxury; but what if the opportunity was given to expand their horizons? What if they were given the ability to explore things beyond their normal comfort zones that didn’t leave a huge dent in their wallets? Well…HAVE NO FEAR, YOUR AFFORDABLE ADVENTURE GUIDE IS HERE! If you want to do something entertaining and worth your amusement, do I have a cheap list for you. So go ahead and take your friend up on that offer to go glow (discount) golfing, treat yourself to a fancy (affordable) dinner downtown or make those plans with your new BFFs to see that new (inexpensive) theatrical performance being shown down the block.
Read on for more reasonably priced entertainment ideas:
1. Hosting a game night (board games, video games, any games that satisfies you…)
2. Gather up as many of your friends as possible and have a movie/ Netflix marathon in the comfort of your own home/dorm (And F.Y.I. a Netflix marathon is actually where you sit and binge on movies and TV shows, not that "Netflix and chill" thing you kids be doing nowadays…)
3. Get artsy, get crafty, get creative—make something, out of nothing!
4. Visit a museum…any museum near you (as long as you have your student ID, you shouldn’t have to pay the their ridiculous prices…)
5. If you and your buddies like to sing, try doing karaoke your own way. Feel free to put any type of twists you like (singing contest, worst singer takes a shot, etc…)
6. Try making new recipes for you and your friends. If you have a sweet tooth, baking is definitely the way to go! Trust me, no one ever has a problem smelling fresh cupcakes baking early in the morning.
7. Have a picnic. Everyone loves picnics! We’d love them better if the bugs from hell weren’t out trying to kill us all, but go have a picnic anyway.
8. Do you have a pretty body of water near you? If so, go out and take a dip. Everyone loves to watch a beautiful body of water at any time of the day, so go out and enjoy it to the fullest! Though, if you only have a pool near by, that’s OK too, hell, you can still go for an enjoyable dip and keep cool.
9. Try going to an open mic night or even to a poetry reading…you never know what you might find, it might just be more exciting than you thought.
10. Try being a volunteer in doing something you obsoletely love! Or, try doing something you never would have found yourself doing otherwise. New things open new doors…
