Summer time is the perfect time to catch up on sleep, earn
some cash, and READ! Everyone claims they love to read, yet they don’t have the
time to do so during the school year. Which I can agree, it’s hard to find some
spare time to squeeze in a good book. So, this summer is a good time to read
some of those books you’ve been adding to your list but haven’t gotten the
chance to get to. I’ve prepared a list of 10 adorable books I loved and hope
you get a chance to read this summer too!
"I'll Give You the Sun" by Jandy Nelson
This is an adorable book about a set of twins that couldn't be more opposite, yet couldn't be closer. That is, until some things happen that push the two apart. Noah, the artistic, talented, sensitive, one tells his story when the two are thirteen years old. Jude, the brave, outgoing, popular one tells her's when they're sixteen. Both go through some tough times that change them as well as their views on life. It's an absolutely amazing book to read if you're looking for love, heartbreak, friendship, family, and passion. This is one of my favorite books and I definitely recommend, especially if you're looking for one you can't put down!
"Me Before You" by JoJo Moyes

Of course I had to recommend this book since the movie is coming out soon (June 3! to be exact!) However, the book itself is incredible and I recommend to anyone and everyone. Even if you don't think the movie looks particularly good, the book is fantastic. The story follows Louisa Clark, a 26-year-old girl that finally finds a new job as a caregiver and companion for a quadriplegic man, Will Traynor. This book is so much more than a simple love story though. It brings up several different points about life and how we should live. The incredibly moving messages and lessons will have you reflecting on your own life will you read this sweet book.
"It's Kind of a Funny Story" by Ned Vizzini
This book follows a young teenager named Craig Gilner who is determined to succeed in life. He pushes himself to get into the proper school so he can get into the proper college and get a proper job. But, the pressure gets to him and he attempts to commit suicide. This story follows Craig's journey as he enters a mental hospital, meets a bunch of different people, and learn more about himself. Written in a surprisingly laid back tone, this story is a great one and everyone should read it. It helps learn about mental issues in a light-hearted manner, making it a great read.
"Paper Towns" by John Green
Probably a lot of you have read John Green's two most popular books: The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska. So, you should definitely give this book a chance, especially if you enjoyed Green's other books. This story follows Quentin Jacobsen, a teenager that lives a relatively boring life. He doesn't do anything spontaneous or out of the norm. He simply goes to school, hangs out with his friends, and goes home. That changes when his striking neighbor, Margo Roth Spiegelman, sneaks in his window one night to take him on an adventure he'll never forget. The next day, Margo mysteriously goes missing and Quentin believes it is up to him to find her. This is another story that discusses the importance of living life to the fullest, yet Green seems to do it in a way that is unique to his style of writing. I definitely recommend this book for those seeking some adventure and fun!
"Room" by Emma Donoghue

I thought this book had a very interesting story and unique perspective. It discusses the capture of a young woman who is held prisoner in a small shed outside her kidnapper's home. He rapes her often, yet supplies her with everything necessary to live. Eventually, she gives birth to a boy, Jack. The story follows the two of them and their miraculous escape from "Room." This book is definitely different from all the others I've read, so if you're looking for something entirely different from anything else, this is the book for you.
"Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail" by Cheryl Strayed
This memoir by Cheryl Strayed follows her journey as she hikes roughly 1,000 miles through the Pacific Crest Trail. She goes through some tough situations and decided the best way to get through them was to take this hike alone. It shows the struggles she faced, physically and mentally, as well as the different people she meets. This is an incredible story of survival, hope, and love. Everyone should read this amazing book!
"Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer

After 9-year-old Oskar finds a key in his dead father's closet, be believes he left it for the young boy to find what it leads to. Oskar then sets out to search almost all of
New York City to follow the journey he believes his father left for him. Oskar meets so many different people with so many different stories. It's an
inspiring book that helps readers learn to cope with the pain of losing a loved one. This book may be a tear jerker, but it's worth the read. Great book about this young boy's experiences.
"All the Bright Places" by Jennifer Niven

This adorable book is a love story between Violet and Finch, two high schoolers you wouldn't expect even to meet. Violet goes through the struggles of losing her sister and is more than ready to graduate. Finch is clearly depressed, fascinated with ways of committing suicide. Both are assigned a school project together: to explore their quiet state of Indiana. Through this project, they find love and perhaps even meaning to their lives. It's a powerful story that talks about some deep, personal topics. It's worth the read.
"Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom
Possibly a book you were required to read, but in case you haven't, you definitely need to. It's about the author finding his old mentor: a college professor he was quite fond of. Morrie becomes sick and is in his last few months of life, so Mitch decides to visit him every Tuesday to learn something he's desperate to discover: how to live. This is a heart warming and heart breaking story all in one. It's incredible if you're looking for a book that makes you feel happy, warm, and ready to live.
"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky
Charlie is a quiet, sensitive, freshman that seems new to life. He's thrown into life and new experiences with his new friends that take him under their wings. You quickly learn there is more about a person than what meets the eye, even if no one sees it quite at first. This story is all about love, acceptance, life, and loving every aspect of it. It's one of those soft stories that makes you smile and touches you deep in your heart. A beautiful story with a beautiful message
