If you've ever watched The Vampire Diaries, you've been in love with Damon Salvatore at some point. And, if you say you haven't been, you're lying. Possibly the show's most complex character, Damon Salvatore is the baggage-ridden brother who places himself into a love triangle with his brother and his brother's girlfriend who just happens to look exactly like the love of his life who died over a hundred years before.

Weird, I know.

Regardless of how crazy the story line gets, one thing never changes; Damon Salvatore's ability to steal our hearts. As the show gets ready to begin it's eighth and final season, here's just a few reasons why we cannot help but love the bad brother.


1. Because he waits for Elena to choose between him and his equally hot brother (hard choice, I know).


2. And always gives Stefan credit for saving Elena's life because he knows how much she loves him.


3. He's not only there when her life needs saving. He makes up for his killing sprees with little things like this:


4. And of course you have to love the way he looks at Elena


5. Literally no one cares that he's an evil psychopath at first because he's just so beautiful.


6. THAT SMIRK THOUGH.


7. Him & Alaric were your #FriendGoals.


8. He was a super fun drunk when he wasn't, you know, killing everyone.


9. Even though his relationship with his brother wasn't always the best, he would still do anything for Stefan


10. And lastly, because he changed himself for the better and FINALLY got the girl
