We all think that because we're in college, we're mature and independent grown-ups, and yes, 75 percent of the time that's true, but for the other 25 percent, we all need someone to rely on: OUR MOTHERS. Whether you have a close relationship with your mom or not, she will always be your best friend, biggest supporter, strongest shoulder to lean on, and obviously, the most motherly.

She is the only person who will listen to you aimlessly complain about everything and anything for hours and actually care about what your saying. You can count on her to blatantly tell you when you've gained a few pounds or when you look like a hot mess. She dislikes all your enemies and boys who have made you cry, but loves all your friends as if they were her own daughters. And if you danced your whole life like I did, she is the ONLY person who will sit through hundreds of dance competitions, practices and recitals watching the same routines over and over again while still being your No. 1 fan. Shout out to you, Mom, because I sure as hell could not have done it all without you. I could think of a million things that you have done for me, I literally would not be where I am today if it weren't for you. LOL.

Since most of us will be busy studying for finals during Mother's Day, I didn't want my gratitude for all that you've done to go unnoticed. So, here is a list of why your mom is THE REAL MVP.

1. She is always right.

Although we always fight it, we all know our mom ends up being right. Whether about a boy, our plans for the night or just about any decision we are trying to make, she always ends up right.

2. She picks you up at 2 a.m.

In high school, she would pick you up when you and your friends were having a little too much fun. She was your savior if one of your friends was sick or the cops were coming, now she picks you up at 3 a.m. from sketchy train stations in the city when you missed your train home. (But really, S/O to you for that one.)

3. She is basically your doctor.

You would think mothers had a medical degree or something because she always knows what to do when you're sick. Even from 500 miles away you can nurse you back to health.

4. She is your bank.

Every mother's worst nightmare is having their child be in an emergency without any cash. So even if you spent all your money out Thursday night, she makes sure you are never without cash. She tells you this is the last time and to stop buying drinks, but we know that wont be the case.

5. She gives you tough love.

Obviously your mom thinks you're perfect the way you are, but she will be the first to tell you when you've gained a few pounds or your recent life choices haven't been the best ones. And as much as we hate being told all the things we are doing wrong, we all know we need our Mom to keep us in line.

6. She gives the best advice.

We can call you about anything and everything and you always know what to say. Even if its those Sunday morning phone calls crying about my decisions from the weekend, you somehow know how to make me feel better.

7. She fills out all your forms.

Doctor's office forms, school paperwork, leases, car insurance, etc. She's always willing to fill them out for you. We all attempt to do it on our own, but it always ends with calling her for our social security number and what illnesses run in the family.

8. She welcomes you with a home cooked meal.

If you are out of state, like I am, you know one of the best parts about going home is the meal waiting for you when you walk in the door. No matter how many times you try making her recipes, they never come out as good as when she makes it.

9. She's your number one fan.

Thank you for sitting through all of my practices and recitals, driving hours to competitions every weekend and spending ridiculous amounts of money all with a smile on your face. It wouldn't have been the same if you weren't there to cheer me on, even if I didn't perform my best you never let it show.

10. She is your best friend.

They say you meet your best friends in college, and yes that is true, but no relationship will ever come close to the one you have with your mom. Thank you for all that you do and for always being there for me. The older I get the more I realize you are, and always will be, my best friend. So thank you, Mom. You truly are THE REAL MVP.
