1. Sign Language? It's a language too.
Just because sign language isn't spoken out loud, doesn't mean it should be excluded. It's an important form of communication as well. How can any conversation occur if nothing is reciprocated? Sign language isn't a one way street. The other should attempt to sign even if what you're signing is wrong. That at least shows some effort.
2. Being deaf doesn't mean you're not able to do what others can do.
Being deaf is just not having the ability to hear. It also means that you have to work a little harder than those around who aren't deaf. Example above (slight spoiler alert), this was an episode where the contestants were shooting a music video. Unlike the others who could just read the lyrics/listen to the beat, Nyle used headphones and read the lyrics at the same time to get the words. He was able to shoot the music video just like the others.
3. Be more appreciative and don't complain about trivial issues.
Trivial issues aren't important because they simply go away, they're minor, they don't matter. Being deaf doesn't go away. It's just a reminder to appreciate what you have and to complain less.
4. Be inclusive to those around you.
During the competition, Nyle's way of communicating is through a cell phone that speaks out what he types. A good chunk of times in the episodes, he seems to be overlooked by the others which makes him feel isolated. It's due to the lack of communication. Not realizing exclusion is happening may not be on purpose, some people just might not realize what they're doing. Being inclusive is something to keep in mind, because no one likes to be excluded.
5. Love the life you have and don't let anything hold you back.
You only have one life to live and certain things are placed in it for a reason. Embrace it and go after whatever you want.
