YouTube: Never Go Away

My thoughts on the King of Videos.

YouTube: Never Go Away

Wikipedia’s page for YouTube starts by, “YouTube is a video-sharing website headquartered in San Bruno, California.” But in my opinion this is how it should start.

YouTube is the greatest thing that happened to the internet. Seriously, one of the greatest things ever. It can get as dark as Satan’s secrets and as happy, joyful as a unicorn running through a field of French fries. Yes, that is happiness. Don’t judge me.

YouTube came into existence in 2005, and operated as an independent company for a year. Since 2006, YouTube has been under its parent company Google. Now, having google as an overseer is just another reason to love this video sharing platform. Google is and has been the revolutionary organization for a while now.

These are some reasons why I love YouTube as much as I love my chilled sweating bottle of beer after a long day.

Diversity

YouTube is one of the most diverse places that exist on the internet today. The channels and videos range from different sets of culture, countries, religions, sexuality, views. The videos on YouTube come from people of different background with different views and beliefs.

There is everything for everyone

The point above kind of sets the base for this one. Yes, there is literally everything for everyone on YouTube. Unless, you are into some dark freaky shit. Then, you need to look somewhere else. And as I would advise just don’t look. YouTube has millions of videos being watched every day. Everything from videos about technology, video games, education, make-up tutorials, cooking videos, etc. I’ve always been impressed with the content on YouTube. Of course, everything cannot be good. But the ideas, and the variety of the videos and channels is very impressive.

One of the most important source of information

Agree or not. YouTube is a very readily available source of information. The information collected might or might not be very reliable, but there is a lot of it. I can’t count how many times I have turned to YouTube to watch a video to learn certain concepts for my classes. And not only that, now there are multiple channels which offer you news on your favorite topics, which can include: world affairs, entertainment news, etc.

Instant

I know this is a very obvious, but I love things when they are instant. I absolutely do. The fact that YouTube has come such a long way, and made a lot of things instant is great. I also love the feature they started called YouTube Red, where you can save and watch your video’s after a while. And even watch them without any internet connectivity, that is viewing offline. It is incredible, I always wanted this feature, since I began using YouTube’s app on my phone. It is safe to say I love YouTube’s instantaneous nature as much as I love instant ramen noodles. Yes, I went there.

You end up making a relationship

If you follow a YouTuber on a regular basis, you will know what I am trying to say here. Yes, you do end up making a relationship with the YouTuber you so fondly watch. I certainly have. And I know many who are always very close to their YouTuber through this platform. It’s not just liking a video anymore; it has become a fandom. It can be for any reason. You may like their humor, their view on things, the content. Anything.

So, these are just a few things I love about YouTube. Some of the many essential things. I am pretty sure a lot of people who use internet, somehow end up using YouTube, but it’s important to understand what it brings to us from time to time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
