Youtubers: Where are they now?

Youtube: one of the OG social media platforms. Youtube has been around for over ten years. That's insane! As a kid, the most popular videos to watch were music videos or makeup tutorials, but now Youtube is used for a variety of different things. You can find DIY's, storytime videos, and challenges which in my opinion are the funniest to watch.

One of the biggest things Youtube has done is turn your average person into a star. Think about it: Justin Bieber, 5SOS, and more recently, Troye Sivan, started their music careers on Youtube. It was from there that they were picked up by an agent or seen by a record label, and were then signed.

These are just three examples. Besides a musical career, Youtube has helped many people jumpstart their career outside of Youtube. From books to movies, and even tours, Youtube is underrated in so many ways. A lot of people don't think it's a "job", but it takes hours to edit one single video. All of a person's time will be dedicated to filming and editing video's for the public's entertainment, so next time you want to say it's not a job, think about all of the hard work these Youtubers put into their work.

So let's talk about some of the OG Youtubers. There's Shane Dawson, FBE, Buzzfeed, Miranda Sings, and Bunny (aka grav3yardgirl). Youtube started out as just a hobby, but their channels ended up taking off.

Starting with Shane Dawson, he is most well known for the skits, spoofs, and parodies that he used to do. That's what really started his career. He's changed up his style of videos and now does mind-blowing conspiracy theories and TONS of food videos (my favorite by the way). A Halloween candy cake? GENIUS! Not only does Shane have a movie out on Netflix, he has also been in commercials, has his own book out, and even writes, directs and stars in his own short films based off of his book. With over eight million subscribers, he's a name that you can't forget.

FBE is a channel that I've been watching since they first came out with their channel. They started with Kids React and now have Teens React, Youtubers React, Elders React, Adults React, College Kids React and Do They Know It on their main channel and their REACT channel. They have over TWELVE MILLION subscribers! There's something about watching other's react to a viral trend or video that is so entertaining... hands down my favorite Youtube channel on the internet.

Buzzfeed is not only found out Youtube but is found all over the internet now. Their videos have taken social media by storm. Miranda Sings, also known as Colleen Ballinger, now has her own show on Netflix called Haters Back Off. Pretty awesome am I right? Check it out! You won't be disappointed. Bunny (grav3yardgirl) and her subscribers are one big family known as the swamp family. With over seven million subscribers, Bunny now has her own makeup palette out who she paired up with Tarte to make. For any girl who loves makeup, this is a must have especially for the fall.

You see what I mean when I say Youtube is underrated? This social media platform has helped so many people get their name out there and become very successful. Huge shoutout to you Youtube, huge shoutout to you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
