Why You Should Never Stop Dreaming

No one can stop me from believing in myself and making my dreams become a reality.

Why You Should Never Stop Dreaming
Dina Kim

Are you ever too young to start dreaming? Are you ever too old to keep dreaming? Dreams are something that we have as children, dreaming to become an actor/actress, firefighter, singer, and more. Especially in our world today, that is centered around being the best in terms making the most money, having the greatest social life and gaining the best education, we tend to get lost and not pursue what we truly want and what actually brings us happiness.

To answer the questions above, no, you are never too young to start dreaming, and no, you are never too old to keep dreaming. As a child, I dreamt of many things in the future such as being an actor, singer, and kind of embarrassing to say, but the president of a country. Even now, as a young adult, I constantly dream of doing many things and becoming many things in the future.

Sometimes, elders tell me that I need to stop dreaming and think of my reality in the future because as they say “dreams are only dreams, dreams are not the reality”. I strongly disagree with this statement that I get from many elders when talking about my future. I believe that one should never stop dreaming and that dreams can indeed and will become reality with the right amount of motivation, determination, and power.

Also, dreaming doesn’t cost anything. Dreaming doesn’t hurt you. If there are no negative aspects, why not keep dreaming. With personal experience when I was younger, I can now say that this is my youth and my dreams and no one can stop me from believing in myself and making my dreams become a reality. Even with my education, as a child, I always dreamed of going to school in a huge city like New York City but never imagined myself actually here.

Then, while attending New York University, I dreamed of studying abroad in Europe and currently, I’m having the time of my life in Prague, Czech Republic. Going to such a prestigious university in NYC and studying abroad in Europe have merely been dreams when I was young and even as a teenager. However, I worked hard and always stayed determined to turn my dreams into a reality.

Whoever is reading this, whether you are a young teenager or an adult or an elder, always know that dreaming is possibly the best quality a human can have. Just concluding this with one simple sentence, your youth is yours and nobody else’s, treasure your youth and always keep dreaming. If you think about it, we only live our youth out once so why not live it to your full potential with your ideas and your dreams. I’m not saying other people can’t influence or help your decisions, but don’t let others be the guiding force in your own future. My youth is not yours. My youth is not my parents’. My youth is simply mine.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
