I get it. I get that sometimes it may feel like the world is out to get you or that nothing is never meant to work out for you. Guess what. It's all lies. All of that crap about you not being pretty enough, smart enough, skinny enough, good enough, are all the things that make up the two things most people have engraved in their minds since the day they were born; ignorance and the urgency of needing to be constantly perfect at all times. Why on earth would you ever want to be perfect? There's nothing cool or exciting or different about wanting to be perfect, let alone actually living what society deems to be stereotypically so.
I'm human. We're all human. We all have tendencies to have our little meltdowns or our moments of weakness when it comes to deciding whether or not we believe ourselves when we say, "I'm worth it." But the thing that makes me wander the most is how we get to that point of even asking ourselves that question. Am I worth it? Why wouldn't you or anyone else be worth it? Is it because you didn't make honor roll? Or that your prom dress didn't cost $800.00 but so and so's did? Wait no, I got it. It's because you sent him four text messages and he still didn't respond, that means he doesn't like you, right? Wrong.
Who cares if you didn't get straight A's, or you bought your dress on sale, or that ONE guy didn't respond to your four (*clears throat,* thousand) messages? Does that mean you're not smart? Does that mean you didn't look equally as gorgeous? Does that mean he wants nothing to do with you? No. Maybe you're simply not an 100 percent, 4.0 winning student. Your dress may have been cheaper but it was better quality. Maybe he honestly was just caught up in something and will respond later. Just because certain things go in a different direction than you initially planned, doesn't mean you're necessarily travelling upon the wrong road. Just think of it as a shortcut. You have absolutely no idea which way you're headed, but you'll make it to your destination a lot faster. Embrace life and its abilities to surprise you at any moment.
You have no idea, how many days have gone by where I actually have cried myself to sleep over a guy, or how I convinced myself everyone at school hated me junior year when I was bullied, or when at one point my grades were not what I had hoped for them to be. Why? Here's why. It is so normal and it is so okay to go through those rough patches and to experience those little moments in time that make you realize that the obstacles that you stumbled over yesterday, or the imperfections that you face today, and even the unexpected that you will find yourself in contact with tomorrow and the rest of your life, are the factors you need to live as authentically as possible.
Who cares if it didn't go perfectly. Who cares if you need to take a rain check. It'll all eventually fall into place.
You're worth it, period.
