Many people probably agree that life can often be considered complicated and difficult. It is uncertain and unpredictable. We do our best to aim and achieve our hopes and dreams but, unfortunately, things don't always work out the way we plan. Sometimes it gets you thinking: Is all of this worth it? Am I making the right decisions? Why am I such a failure?
But, what does it exactly mean to be a failure?
The definition of failure varies from person to person. Some people believe that being a failure means accepting defeat. Others think that being a failure means being unable to complete their goal or goals. A few others may assume that failure is making a fool of one's self. Or maybe people consider failure to be a loss of respect from others.
Your definition of failure is really up to you.
But why do you feel like a failure?
Some of it may be school related. Maybe you failed a test/project/paper. Maybe your GPA is not exactly what you hoped it would be or you weren't able to pass the class. Perhaps you've just decided to switch schools/majors.
Maybe it's because you got fired from a job or you're still unemployed.
Perhaps, someone told you that you're not good enough. It hurts knowing that there is someone out there who does not believe in you. Their lack of faith in you can affect the way you see yourself at times.
Or, possibly, you were unable to achieve one of your hopes, dreams or goals in life. You've probably made a few mistakes along the way, and you may feel frustrated about it.
Whatever it was, you're definitely not happy about it. But you know what? It's completely fine. You're human. We all make mistakes at some point in our lives. You shouldn't be too harsh on yourself every time you "fail." Maybe what you were aspiring for was not meant for you. Maybe you need to be patient or take a different path.
Here's the thing - we focus too much on the negative aspects that we tend to forget about the positive parts of our lives.
Remind yourself that it is okay to not be perfect. Your struggles are not equal your failures. Actually, your struggles show you that you are doing the best you can. So, take your time, relax and have fun. Don't forget to look at how far you've come in life and believe in yourself! Once you're ready to give it another shot, then go for it!
One of my favorite inspirational quotes is, "Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations." I know you'll get to achieve your goal one day, so don't give up. Stay focused. Prove to the people who have doubted you wrong. As long as you're breathing and trying: you're not failing. You're still learning.
You're figuring out what works and what doesn't, and that is what truly matters.
