Losing a parent is tough at any age, but when a little girl loses her father, she loses so much more than just that.
He's your best friend, your pal, your partner in crime, and don't you forget, you're his whole world.
Suddenly, he is ripped from your life and only God knows why this happened to you. At this point, there are so many thoughts running through your head. Most of which are "why me" and "I don't understand." Nobody else can fathom the pain you are going through. You are so young. Too young to have to go through anything like this. I am here to tell you, as you grow older it is going to be hard. It won't get easier. You will only cope with it. So many things will constantly remind you of him.
Some of the biggest and most important times in your life will be the hardest.
When you make the high school sports team that he always helped you practice for, you will wish he could be the first person you tell.
When you graduate high school and get into college, you will wish he was there to see and hug you.
When you succeed in life, you wish he was there to see and tell you how proud he is of you.
When you get married, you will wish he was there to walk you down the aisle.
When you have children, you will wish he could meet his grandchildren.
Father's Day will never be your favorite.
You will feel awkward for a long time when people talk about how great their dads are around you.
When you have a bad day or when things just aren't going right for you, you will just want to be able to talk to him and hear his comforting words.
There will be times when you just want to lock yourself in your room, bury your face in a pillow and cry because you miss him so much and wish he was there.
What you need to know is, you are going to be okay. You will make it, I promise you. Your family and friends, they will be your biggest support systems. Love them. Let them be there for you. Know that it is okay to cry, don't hold it in. Let it all out, tears are a healing process and you are not weak. You are strong, and you will only grow stronger. God put this obstacle in your life for a reason, and you will overcome it. Trust in him. Believe in him. And your father, he is always with you. More now than he ever was before. If you believe anything, believe that. When you make that sports team, he is there watching you. When you graduate high school, he will be there. And he will be so proud of you. When you get married, he will be right beside you. Remember the good times. Keep those memories alive. Embrace them. Be thankful for the time you had. And remember when its Father's Day, or daddy/daughter day at school, or when your friends talk about how awesome their dads are, YOU have something special. You have an angel. His name is Daddy. He loves you and he is always with you.
