You’re a Christian… *GASP* and your best friend is a lesbian?!
The world we now live in believes you must agree with everything a person does to be their friend and if you don’t agree with every fiber of their lifestyle you must hate or “fear” them. I for one do not believe this to be true, I have multiple openly gay friends that I support and love with every inch of my heart, who am I to say that my friends cannot be happy?
“A true Christian would never think being gay is okay,” while I don’t believe that the lifestyle is right and I do believe that it is a sin, I am not going to disown or stop loving my friends and GUESS WHAT my gay friends know I don’t believe it is okay, but do not call me a terrible, hating, homophobe because that is not who I am. I am their friend and they’re mine.
While I believe being gay is a sin, I also believe that jealousy is a sin, so is stealing, cheating and get this: having sex before marriage. There are so many verses about sexual sin in the Bible that have nothing to do with homosexuality, but our society decides to dwell on it because we have convinced ourselves it is the worst sin on earth. This is not the truth. I do believe different sins hold different punishment because some are intentional like being gay when you know it is wrong, but my argument is when people repeatedly steal they know it is wrong, when people continually cheat they know it's wrong, but our society thinks that these sins that are actually hurting other people in the process are not as a bad as people being happy with who they are, so they disgrace gays and make fun of them. Thieves and cheaters are not automatically condemned to Hell because Gods blanket of forgiveness covers those sins, but somehow ends at homosexuality. I am not God so it is not my place to tell anyone they are going to Heaven or Hell because I cannot see their heart like our God can, it is his job and I’m leaving it to him, but it is my job to spread Gods word, love like Jesus and be a good person while on this earth.
So my best friend is gay and I will continue to support her in everything and love her like Jesus does.
