Society today is absolutely ridiculous. Let me just start there. Society portrays females wearing make-up as perfect goddesses with no problems in the world! Society portrays females not wearing make-up as beasts, pointing out every blemish, pimple, and eyelash out of place.
When I say "society," I mean social media. Social media has taken over the lives of so many individuals, giving them the option to act a certain way in public. There are pictures of celebrities in the middle of a sneeze without make-up on and the magazines will caption that saying, "Wow! She really let herself go! What went wrong?" Really?
Might I add that the "Don't Judge Me" Challenge adds to the stated portrayal. This challenge has kids, teenagers, couples, even parents, covering their faces with sharpie, messing up their hair, and making them look like they don't have the right amount of teeth, just to block the camera and come back to the camera with a full set of make-up, hair done, and eyebrows sculpted to perfection.
Now, this isn't a bashing article, it's a motivational article. You may know a person that is extremely self-conscious of their appearance. The person could even be you. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! And if you are a male reading this, YOU ARE HANDSOME!
We all have bad days. Some of us have bad weeks. Make-up won't make a person. Wearing better clothing or better shoes won't make a person, either. It's all about the person you are on the inside. Have a pure heart and have a positive vibe. That'll get you more love and attract others way more than a face full of make-up. If you wear make-up, make sure that it's because you like it, not because you want to impress anybody or change who you are. If you want to get your hair done or your eyebrows done, do it for you! There are people that do these things for the wrong reasons, but don't be that person.
I, personally, don't wear make-up. I don't feel like I need it. I find myself beautiful without it, and it took me a while to get to that point. I was extremely self-conscious about my appearance, my size, my clothes, everything. So I made it my job to smile everyday and make others around me happy, which made me feel good. From there, I noticed that having a cheerful personality gets you recognized by everyone!
There is someone out there for everyone -- a group of friends, a best friend, a significant other - as long as you have the same attributes that you would want in a person. Be caring. Be thoughtful. Be sensitive. And be yourself!
