It Doesn't Matter Who You Vote For, It Just Matters That You Vote

Choosing not to vote is literally the lamest possible thing and we're sick of your excuses.

Here we are gentle viewers, on the verge of yet another incredibly crucial election, and you thought only the presidency was worth tuning in for! Regardless of how important you think the various branches of our government that don't contain a real-life Oompa-Loompa are, the 2018 midterm elections are upon us.

More importantly than them being here is recognizing that they serve to potentially make big ( blue ) waves in counties, cities, and districts around the country. Not to mention some waves in that big White House with the small-hand bandit inside. Side note; if I'm ever at a western themed murder-mystery party with Trump, we're definitely calling him the small-hand bandit, take that Donny.

In spite of the fact that we now live in a really poorly lit circus show that smells like too much elephant dung with clowns that can't even feign happiness (I'm talking about America, keep up guys), I know too many people who seem to think not voting isn't really a big deal. Sure, the circus is creepy but you still take your kids and buy them popcorn and little red noses while they complain about how Mommy's new boyfriend took them to see "Avengers: Infinity War" last weekend and that was waaaay better. But still, you take them anyway because you don't want them to be that kid who says they've never been to the circus.

How is voting any different? You really want to be the only grown-up at the party who didn't vote and spend the night defending your inability to walk into a tiny box and fill in a circle? Standardized testing prepped you for this for 12 years Greg, WHAT THE FUCK?! Why do you want to be the guy saying "Heh, yeah I never voted because my vote doesn't even matter."

Just to clear it up, your vote doesn't "matter" because you don't cast it. It doesn't matter because we've spent way too long supporting an ideology that says our vote makes no difference because of the electoral college, which the powerful people in Washington are actually banking on so they don't have to worry about your vote.

Yeah, that's right. Your vote actually can make a difference you've just been brainwashed into thinking it doesn't matter. The powerful are so worried about you voting in a way they wouldn't expect that they would prefer you to believe that you shouldn't vote at all. Unless you're voting for the creep in the MAGA hat of course.

If you look more into this election, (I recommend heading over to VoteSaveAmerica.com right now to see what's on your ballot.) you'll find there is more going on than just putting people into positions of power in Washington. This election may impact who your next Governor is, or like in Florida, it may help renew the voting rights of 1.4 million Americans. That certainly sounds like a vote that matters.

But honestly, let me take a step aside and make this not about party lines or encouraging you to join the Resistance. If you want me to be completely honest with you, I don't care who you decide to vote for. I simply care that you vote. When you look at the 2016 election, almost half of our country decided to stay home and opt out. You really wanted Bernie so bad? Maybe if half of you had come out to say that in the ballot box, we'd see a different America.

Voting is a right in our country, but don't forget that nations have fallen. Rights have been removed. If you lost the ability to vote tomorrow, how bad do you think you'd want it back? Keep that in mind this November.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
