Your Vote Doesn't Matter

Come November, the presidential election isn't the only thing to worry about.

Your Vote Doesn't Matter
Thousand Wonders

Your vote doesn't matter.

I will tell you upfront, I am not very politically active. Not as much as I should be, considering any election I vote in from now until I'm 60 will have the most ramifications against me. So over the past year, I've been really trying to get down where I stand politically. Over this year, I've watched a two men who should have no shot at being president become serious contenders for the coveted title. These men being businessman Donald Trump and Senator Bernie Sanders. Albeit, the former is now going head to head with a different candidate, Secretary Hillary Clinton. Now the world is in many different camps. Some want to vote for Trump, others for Hillary. Many are found for third party candidates, a trend I hope continues way past this election. I would like to take the time to give you a wake up call. No matter who you vote for, your vote will mean nothing. The day you go to vote for the next President of the United States, it won't mean anything. This is because America is a system of checks and balances. This means we don't give one branch can't given too much power.

Currently, the legislative branch (Congress) is run by the republicans. This would mean, unfortunately, that any other candidate besides Donald Trump will have minimal to no legislature past. But this is why not only is this election interesting, but is a perfect time to bring up this subject. No one in the Republican Party likes Donald Trump. So much so that on the day of the RNC, members of the party tried to strip Trump of delegates, a maneuver that obviously failed. This most likely means that any of the asinine legislatures Trump wants to pass (which I genuinely doubt he means half of) will not get past. That is because the legislative branch is built to safe guard any asinine ideas a less than qualified President would try to pass. This is the heart of my article. The Presidential Election is not the most important election. The hundreds of men and women who line the senate building are. They are the ones the president's legislature has to pass through. Without a functioning, agreeing and incorruptible Senate is going to continue to see idiocy flourish in US politics.

Remember, on November 4, when you go to your local voting booth, the world will not end if Trump enters office, or that our realities will shatter when Hillary does. Do know that, if we continue to spotlight the wrong elections, we will see a lot of the same politics that we have seen for the last decade. Know that your vote won't matter if Voting Clinton or Trump is most important.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
