High school is filled with so many people with tons of memories to go along with them. However, once graduation rolls around, the chances of you getting together with the majority of the people from your graduating class again are slim to none. It may sound really depressing when it is put that way, but it will help you realize something very important. Graduating high school and moving on to college will help you conclude who were and still are your high school best friends.
Most people who have graduated high school know exactly what I am talking about. There may have been that person, or multiple people in high school who you considered yourself to be super close friends with, but you guys haven’t talked since graduation day. I hate to break it to you, but besides high school reunions, you will probably never really talk to these people again. These high school friends are not the ones that will be your friends for life. Of course, this is how the majority of high school friendships will end up, but there are some that will just never fade away.
The high school friends that are still your friends today are the ones that are there for you no matter what. There probably aren’t a lot of them, but that is what makes them so special. They are the ones you feel comfortable calling on a bad day, the ones that make an effort to visit you at school (you may even go to the same school), and the ones you still hang out with when you’re home for break. You may not necessarily talk every single day, but whenever you need them, they never hesitate to be there for you even from different states. These are the high school friends that will likely be your friends forever.
They say that college is the time to start fresh. To meet new people and find yourself. These things are absolutely true. It is a great feeling to go to college and make so many new friends, maybe even some of your best friends. However, I learned this year that moving on to college does not mean leaving your best friends from high school behind. There are some people from high school that I have created an unbreakable bond with, and I am confident that these people will be my friends for many years to come. Treasure those friendships from high school that meant the most to you, because they are some of the most sacred friendships one will ever have.
