At the start of the year, I had a class that I just was not a big fan off. I didn't like the teacher too much and the assignments were very stressful to me. I would go back to my apartment and just always complain about how I didn't like the teacher because she assigned too much difficult homework for a freshman level class. For the past month, I have always gone in with a bad attitude because of the stress of this class.
However, this week I was reminded something. Your teachers are people too. Maybe the reason they assigned all the major assignments in the same two weeks, is because that's the only time they have to grade it. Maybe, the reason they were in a bad mood that one day was because they got in a fight with their spouse or kids. You never know what is going on with someone, because you don't get to see the background of their life. Only they do.
A few semesters ago, I had this one class that I was not a big fan of. I didn't like going to it because I just found the subject very boring and it was one of those classes that you have to take for your major, but it's like not related to your major that much. Yeah, this was that class. However, I remember this one girl was always so into this class and always had a good attitude about this class. Her positive attitude literally just lightened up the room so much to where the other students found this class enjoyable. No joke.
See, your attitude can effect everything. Look at Abel in the Bible. Abel was the type of person in which all he wanted to do was please God and please others with a good heart behind it all. His brother Cain looked at Abel with envy and jealousy because of Abel's good heart.
By faith Abel offered God a greater sacrifice than Cain, and through his faith he was commended as righteous, because God commended him for his offerings. And through his faith he still speaks, though he is dead. - Hebrews 11:4
Your inward heart attitude is so important, and it also affects your outward actions. God knows truly what is in our hearts, and if you fill yourself with His word and His truth, your heart attitude will change and become more like His. Our heart attitudes can also affect others and their actions as well. For Abel, Cain was affected by Abel's heart attitude in a negative way, but your heart attitude can affect others in a good way. While you are in class and the people around you may not be having an enjoyable time or start hating on the teacher, you have the ability to change that.
Your teachers are not the enemy here. They aren't giving you this assignment just to stress you out. They know that you are wanting to get the best out of your college experience, and if you think they do not have that right mindset, pray for them. Pray for their mindset to be refreshed again and appreciate the work that they do for you. They are people too.
