In the last couple months, we have seen some of our favorite television shows cancelled or renewed along with a few series that will premiere this summer season. After the culmination of summer, there will eventually be a new list of upcoming series announced, where no doubt a few will find themselves on our fall TV season watch list. Below are a few promising pilots that we have rounded up that will be premiering next fall. Get your DVR’s set and ready to go!
1. Designated Survivor
Kiefer Sutherland is set to star in a new high-stakes thriller as Tom Kirkman, a low-level cabinet official, who finds himself in the crossfires of an attack during a State of the Union address. Those who are ranked above him are killed during the attack, and with the presidential line of succession activated, he is suddenly put in the position of having to pick up the pieces and assess the situation as he is appointed the next commander-in-chief.
2. Notorious
Inspired by the real-life accounts of a renowned criminal defense lawyer Mark Geragos and an executive cable news producer Wendy Walker, this series examines “the interplay of criminal law and the media.” This new ABC drama will be interesting to watch because viewers will be able to see what happens behind the scenes when the media collides with the justice system.
3. Conviction
Another show which will premiere on ABC is "Conviction" starring Hayley Atwell as Hayes Morrison, an attorney based in the Los Angeles, who investigates individuals who have been wrongfully accused of a crime they haven’t committed. Interestingly enough, Morrison is a former First Daughter and is roped into the program in order to redeem herself for committing a past offense of cocaine possession.
Although news recently broke that Agent Carter, starring Atwell in the title role, was cancelled we’re pleased that we won’t have to say farewell to her just yet.
4. Still Star-Crossed
Carrying on from the events that ultimately transpired in Romeo and Juliet, this period drama produced by Shonda Rhimes will reveal what happens to those caught in the crossfire, including the tensions that continue to exist between the Montagues and the Capulets.
5. Cruel Intentions
A spin-off the 1999 movie of the same name, this show will follow 15 years after the events of the film and will reportedly feature members of the original cast, including Sarah Michelle Gellar. She will not only be returning to portray the manipulative Kathryn Merteuil, but will also act as a producer!
6. Drew
This television show will feature Nancy Drew as a detective who works for the NYPD. In this position, she is trying to make sense of the environment around her all the while attempting to investigate an abundance of cases that are sent her way. Although the pilot hasn’t officially been picked up by a major studio, it seems too good to be passed up on. Let’s cross our fingers that it will be picked up!
