For nine seasons, "Scrubs" had kept viewers laughing as they watched the daily lives of those working at Sacred Heart Hospital. From novel characters such as the janitor to the main characters such as best friends J.D. and Turk, the characters of "Scrubs" are incredibly unique. The same can be said about sharks, as there are some interesting species out there. So why not compare the two and put together a list of "Scrubs" characters and their shark equivalents?
Dr. Kelso: The Bahamas Sawshark
Much like the Bahamas sawshark, Dr. Kelso loves the Bahamas. This is seen particularly in episode 14 of season eight, where the staff attends the Janitor’s wedding in the Bahamas. Dr. Kelso spends the entire time bar-hopping and ordering “Bahama Mama” after “Bahama Mama."
Ted: The Pyjama Shark
While Ted happens to have the tough job of hospital lawyer, he is anything but tough. He is usually seen taking a verbal beating from Dr. Kelso and then subsequently grouching around in a corner, or contemplating existence from the top of a building. The pyjama shark travels through and hides in the small cracks of shallow reefs. When a pyjama shark feels threatened, it will roll up and hide its head, making an immense effort to not be noticed the predator. Ted is seen in numerous episodes trying to avoid Dr. Kelso.
The Todd: Stethacanthus
The Stethacanthus is a very flashy ancient deep-sea shark that existed about 320 million years ago. With a flashy plumage like mass on top of its head, the Stethacathus is always looking to attract a mate. This is true about The Todd, as he is always cracking rather inappropriate jokes around his co-workers and hitting on any women he sees, continuously hitting on Carla even after her marriage to Turk.
Elliot Reid: Megamouth Shark
Elliot Reid is without a doubt the megamouth. Elliot has such a way with words in that she is not very good with them at all. Elliot confides in everyone, from patients to Carla, and even consistently tries to confide in Dr. Cox. She feels she rarely has success with finding love, and is teased without abandon for it by none other than Dr. Cox.
J.D.: Indonesian Speckled Carpetshark
The Indonesian speckled carpet shark actually walks along the sea floor, using its fins as if they were legs. J.D. is the perfect human counterpart to this shark. Both are known for their oddities, whether it be walking like a human when you’re a fish, or intensely daydreaming while someone is telling you something important.
Turk: The Basking Shark
The basking shark is one of the largest fish in the world, and has the main characteristic of a large mouth and looking tough. This is true of Turk as well, and even Dr. Cox is afraid of Turk when he takes his joking with Carla too far. However, the Basking shark has a soft side, is very slow moving and only feeds on plankton. Turk is an incredible friend to J.D. and Elliot, and is a great husband to Carla, all the while remaining strong and courageous when performing risky surgeries.
Dr. Cox: The Goblin Shark
Dr. Cox is no doubt a resemblance of the goblin shark, which is known for its long, pointed nose and wide mouth with long, gnarly, sharp teeth. Its large nose and ability to dislocate its jaws allow it to detect and capture prey while staying unnoticed. This is much like Dr. Cox’s ability to prey upon the residents of the hospital, especially the main focus of the show, J.D. He makes fun of J.D. relentlessly, and calling him every girl name under the sun.
The Janitor: The Sharp Nose Seven-gill Shark
The sharp nose seven-gill is known for its aggressive nature, as is the janitor. Our first impression of the janitor is when he threatens J.D. after accusing him of breaking the hospital’s main door by putting a penny in the top of the door. The janitor always has a fresh prank to play on J.D., no matter how harsh.
