Remember that journal you bought and swore you would start writing in one day? Or that treadmill you bought that's slowly collecting dust in the basement? How about that golden idea for an amazing business you came up with?
It's strange how people start to live their lives once a catastrophic event happens to them. Such as sitting in a graduation chair realizing they never truly lived their high school years. Or sitting at a funeral home wishing there was something more they had said. It's because now they are aware of the essence of time. Time can either be our biggest enemy or our truest friend. It takes
A part of us holds us back from doing the things we want to do. Whether it's self-doubt or a loss of drive, we are prevented from doing what we truly desire. We make excuses because we don't want to believe that we are letting ourselves down. It's kind of scary to think we are in control of our lives. Being in control of our own lives means we can make ourselves look foolish, or mess up and be the only person to blame. Or, you can look at it as being in control and making the most of it. People look up to people they see doing amazing things. They look up to them, even more, when they see they mess up, and persevere. So who cares if you've always wanted to start painting but you can't even draw a stick figure. Even Picasso drew his first stick figure once. You are your biggest roadblock to doing what you want to do. You are in control of your own time.
It's time to start taking each day, by each moment, and living it; to do the things we always said we would do. If you're waiting for a sign to finally start picking up your old hobbies or starting new ones, the time is now. Take advantage of your time. Crank out that old journal, start writing in it again. Get a rag and dust off that treadmill, even better, get on the treadmill. Saying “
