I'm sure a good amount of people have seen inspirational memes about celebrities "at 23, so and so was broke, lost their job, etc." Memes that basically say that being in your 20s doesn't mean you have to know your life plan. Meaning, although most of us are in college, with a desired major and life in mind, it doesn't mean we are confident in our decision. Your 20's are the years at which you can self-explore, travel, to find yourself, but most importantly grow.
Enjoy this time in your life
Your 20's are supposed to be fun, fast paced, the time where you grow as a person. At 18 you go to college and society says "You're now an adult, you have adult responsibilities and you're on your own". Who said you can't have fun? Yeah, we have our school and work commitments, but if you work hard you'll learn it's okay to play hard too. Travel, experience new cultures. Take on intimidating opportunities. Move, take some time to find who you are or who you want to be. How many times in your life will you have the chance to not be in school, not have a set future, and just take that precious time to live your life!
Don't worry if you feel like you don't have your shit together
Many successful people today, such as Oprah or J.K. Rowling did not "have their shit together" in their early 20's. Don't worry, you have time. You didn't get into grad school right away? Don't stress, a lot of people don't get in. Do what you have to do and try again! You're in your 20's and you feel like you should have your own place, but you can't find a job that you went to school for, it's okay, Everything will work out! So what your car is 10 years old and all your friends have brand new cars, you'll get there one day. Society expects you to have your life together, and they also expect you to have maturity that only comes after experiencing a full life, you'll be ok, everything will work out.
Your life will come together
Take your time, get your work done. The only person who is responsible for your success in life is no one but yourself. Only you are in control of where your life is going and what you're capable of achieving. If you do everything you're supposed to, life will come together. The biggest mistake people make in life is the decision to remain idle. Remaining idle means jumping from job to job, not having any degree or certificate that will help you advance. Remaining idle is seriously one of the worst positions to put yourself into. So, get out there and work hard, but don't forget to play hard too!
