What Young Girls Wear: The Disturbing Truth

After This, You Will Think Before You Dress

What Young Girls Wear: The Disturbing Truth

I'm almost 20 years old. I am an adult that can make my own choices on how to dress and how I want people to see me. I could be wearing see-through leggings with a cropped top. I could be wearing a bralette as a shirt. I could be wearing shorts that show my whole booty if I wanted to! But I'm an adult that respects myself and my body. I respect other women and their relationships. And I sure as hell don't want men twice my age looking at me as a sex object rather than a daughter. I wear clothes that hide what should not be shown to others besides myself, my boyfriend, and people at the beach or by the pool.

Everywhere I go, I see young girls as young as 11 showing off their bodies like they are fully developed women. When they should be in their awkward stages of life, wearing things that they will look back and laugh at, they are wearing things they might be ashamed of when they are older.

As I look around, I see 11-16 year olds wearing cropped tops with leggings, yoga pants, low-rise pants, shorts, and skirts. You can see every inch of their bodies right down to their butts and hip bones. The leggings they wear are see-through and reveal everything including the 'sexy' underwear that they should not be wearing yet. I see girls wearing excessive push-up and bombshell bras with their boobs hanging out of their shirts, even though it is clear that they should only be wearing training or lightly-padded bras. I've seen young girls' underwear when they sit down or bend over in a short tight dress, and I've seen about three times more girls' butts hanging out of their shorts on a normal day than I do at the beach!

Speaking of the beach... You can't get away from the provocative items of clothing that these young girls wear there either. Now instead of one pieces, tankinis, and bikinis that cover most of the butt and chest, there are thong bikini bottoms and push-up bikini tops! So now when you go to the beach or public pool, you see a woman's body on a little girl.

What these young girls and their parents don't understand is who they are attracting. By dressing this way, these girls are easy targets for tools and guys people call 'f**k boys' (guys that just want sex). If anything, they are provoking more of these boys. Guess who else these young girls are attracting? Grown men. Men who could be their father, men who could be disturbed by it, or men who could be disturbinglyintrigued by the way they dress. Imagine a man who is two to eight times older being sexually attracted to you/ your daughter? Yuck!

Not only is it who they attract, it's the inappropriate things that this 'style' they wear can lead to. Many young girls are having their first hookups way earlier than others. The attraction of the wrong boys and the fact that they are OK with showing off their bodies leads them to inappropriate behavior for their age. I've heard young girls say they have already done things that I didn't even think to do until five years after their age! Girls are hooking up with a handful of guys before high school. Not only that, but many girls suffer from eating disorders so they can stay looking hot in these small articles of clothing.

If you are a young girl or a parent reading this, think about what you or she is going out in. Think of who it will attract, and what it will lead to. Think... Would you want your boyfriend/husband seeing a young girl dressed this way? I know I don't like my boyfriend, my little brother, or my dad seeing young girls showing off their bodies they way they do. Remember, the only people you are attracting by wearing these outfits are the wrong people!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
