I have always been interested in politics and current events. Every day, I watch and read the news and I do my own research on current events. I believe that being educated about what is going on in the world is extremely important. However, not many people do this. A lot of young people couldn't care less about the news and politics. In my opinion, this needs to change. Young adults should care about politics.
Politics Do Affect You
The government affects a lot of things, even things in your everyday life like the price of gas for your car and your personal freedom. Whether you like the government or not, it plays a huge role in your life.
Stay Educated
If you want to sound intelligent or have an intriguing conversation, then you should probably know a little about what's going on in current events.
You Can Make A Difference
Vote, volunteer, inform yourself, and watch the news. I'm not saying that you need to go out and run for office, but you can make a difference. Whether it's supporting a candidate or informing your friends about the elections, that is making a difference.
Voting Matters
So many people take for granted the country that we live in. Yeah, your favored candidate might not get into office, but you should appreciate the fact that we live in a nation where we can actually favor different candidates. We are lucky to live somewhere where we not only can vote, but also can publicly support different candidates. Voting matters because so many people across the world wish that they could.
We Are The Future
You might not think of it now, but the presidents we elect now will affect us forever. Things like social security, unemployment rates, and wars effect us. We are the ones that will either suffer or not in the future based on politics today. Also, some of you could be the future politicians who we can vote for. We are the future, and it's important to remember that now.
In the end, it's up to you if you want to care about politics or not. Just remember that politics do affect your everyday life and you should care--even if it's only in the slightest amount.
