Being single sometimes is not easy. As a single girl you sometimes crave a relationship. However, something that I have learned since I have been single is that I am happy with or without a relationship. A man will not be my only source of happiness. He will only contribute to my happiness.
There will be times when your friends will be worried because you might’ve been used by the current guy in your life. Even though it hurts, there's something to remember: that guy did you a favor. If he hadn’t shown his true colors you probably would’ve thought “oh hey this guy is a nice guy.” Eventually, you would’ve started to catch feelings for him.
My mom always told me, “It is better to be alone than to have bad company around you.” When I was younger I didn’t understand what she meant but it totally makes sense now. I would rather be single than be in a relationship with a guy that will not appreciate me and treat me the way I am supposed to be treated.
Sometimes it is hard to avoid loneliness when you’re single. Especially when your friends are in relationships. In times like this you have to remember all the great things you have in life. Whether it be the accomplishment of doing great in school or an amazing internship. Remember all the great things that you have going for you.
A relationship should only add to your happiness. It should never be your only source of happiness. A relationship can easily become toxic. You have to learn how to be an individual and love yourself before you can jump in and be with anyone else.
Something that I have learned since I have been single is that you have to learn how to be alone. Learn to be alone and be okay with it. Take a trip to a bakery sip on some coffee, read a book and enjoy being alone.
Once you feel completely comfortable with yourself and accept yourself for who you are, that is when you will be ready to be in a relationship. Until then, you can be single and enjoy the single life because it can definitely be enjoyable.
